What about the purse money? 50K is great for winning but only 5K for getting on the box? There is a huge disparity here. I think that the purse should be tiered according to finishing position.

I might be guessing wrong but in the liter class when you eliminate the less funded teams your grid is smaller than moto-gp

Depending on how you define "less funded" I'd say you're right.

They have a winning model for stock cars, but I wonder if they have an appreciation for the difference in demographics between NASCAR and bike racing.

Nowhere on the web do I see antipathy for NASCRAP more than on bike sites.

Of course, with so many people looking for spec tires, spec ECMs, etc etc, who knows, maybe Nasbike will be a success.

I guess I mean non factory or satellite team. For instance the Road Racing World rider places decent but I bet the budget is small. Chaz Davies? Decent team but funding

I am more cynical on spec stuff. Think XXXX official tire of Nasbike (for a fee), Sunoco official tire of Nasbike (for a fee), want to get on the approved list for parts $$$ They have already milked Nascar to the point of pain and are looking for new victims.

looking at that homologation list, THE bike to run would be the GSXR750 IMO. It would come in under the HP limit and should have the best 'delivery' out of all of them. The tuono should be interesting but will it make 130hp?

And who will be riding the bikes? Local Club racers is my guess.

And who will be funding the teams? Manufactures, the one who are already pissed off.....I do not think so.

$50k for a win and both second and 20th get the same........does not seem many teams will be busting the door down to spend $50k on a bike and entry fees, tire fees, salaries, transportation costs, R&D, insurance, tools, Spec Fuel costs and fines just in a chase for one spot of the top prize.

That is another thing, who the hell put together that list of bikes? A super Duke against a GSXR 750?

For me, after seeing everything in person at Miller, I will be hard pressed to see a bike race like the ones that DMG is proposing that I like and could stand to watch. That said, I'm all for more Americans in WSBK, especially after this weekend ... even if it is guys like Spies or Mladin.

I think they should organize some kind of a "formal" scooter race in protest.

Don't forget to include all of them, from a Burgman to Trail 90. Oh, and limit the power to weight ratios. I mean it is entertainment, not racing right ...

We should start our own entertainment group.

bluff or no bluff I think its the right move. motorcycle racing is a whole different ball game than car racing and DMG need to realize that. car racing (in the US at least) is used to sell products, motorcycle racing is to sell bikes.

?

NASCAR sells cars and trucks. Toyota has spent bucketloads of time and money to get in. They didn't do that to sell M&M's.

but a car is also a product. Nascar is more of a marketing series than racing IMO. If you're a Tony Stewart fan what's your first thought when he's mentioned, Home Depot or Toyota Camry? If someone says Ben Spies I bet you're more likely to think of Suzuki GSXR than Rockstar Energy Drink.

I'm just generalizing of course. obviously yes they wanna sell cars but the advertising is a bigger commodity than it is with bikes.

It makes little sense for bike manufacturers to heavily invest in any competition that highlights sponsors and teams and downplays the machines themselves, as well as their technological development.

"The MIC wants a racing series that best promotes rider safety, competition, innovation, racetrack attendance, television viewership and ridership."

Double speak lives! This is the same group that rain certified tracks with no input from the rider safety group and when asked said what group right I think one of the tracks was Road Atlanta which would be quite scary in the rain. There is serious safety flaws in the track as is then add rain Unlike Barber (which rocks in the rain) I think I might park it at Road Atlanta if it rained for a track day.
