The Best Comeback line ever?
"The Best Comeback Line Ever
This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of an ABC interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military headquarters. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base? The radio went silent and the interview ended." I thought you gun owners would like that one! source: Iain Dale's Diary

So did the show end because she didn't want to admit being a prostitute or she just didn't know what to say?

Excellent. I'm a firm believer that teaching gun safety at an early age prevents many accidents.

Re: The Best Comeback line ever?
My favorite quip of all time might be one of Churchill's.
A young politician had insulted him in the house. He went up to his house to apologize and Churchill was taking a dump when he arrived. When asked what to tell the waiting young politician Churchill replied, "Tell him I can only handle one shit at a time".

Re: The Best Comeback line ever?
Actually, I think this gentleman is quoting Churchhill with his reply. I'll check, but I think that response predated this discussion by at least 50 years.

Re: The Best Comeback line ever?
True story....
Osiris and I went out with another couple to one of our local favorite pizza places a couple of months ago... The other girl on this outing had never been to this place and we assured her that they made the best pizza & breadsticks in town..(which is true)... Well, we were seated...15 minutes went by and finally someone came to take our drink orders....15 more minutes went by...others were seated and received their drinks...and finally our drinks came and then we ordered our food... Osiris and his friend ordered a pizza and breadsticks...We (the girls) both ordered subs or something different (can't really remember the details)...Well, the pizza came (45 minutes later) ... several other tables had already eaten and left...my food finally came...and 10 minutes after that, the other girl we were with got her food... Of course, we complained about how long it took to the waitress on several occasions during this outing... When the waitress finally came with our girlfriend's food (after we had almost finished eating)....She asked us "So, how is everything?", and without missing a beat, our friend (the girl that was just given her food) said "Um, I don't know, I just got my food..haven't had a chance to try it yet..." It was soooo f!@king funny...It was probably one of those times that you have to be there to appreciate it...but it was hilarious... When we were leaving, there was a calendar on the counter opened to November 2007...I pointed it out to the other girl and said "Holy shit...we've been in here for months, it's already November!

Abtech, tigerblade, thanks for digging up the murky origins of this story. Another example of the old ones being the best ones, then!

Re: The Best Comeback line ever?
I don't know if it qualifies as a "comeback", but here's another true story (as my father relayed it). Some old farmers were in the local coffee shop when one apparently didn't think the waitress poured him a full cup.
Farmer: "Excuse me, but I didn't want any cream." Waitress: "I didn't give you any cream." Farmer: "Well, you left enough room for it..."
