"How Modern Liberals Think"

Hmmm...this is an interesting video. Sayet speaking to the Heritage Foundation. I don't agree with all he says for sure, but he makes a real interesting point about the liberal party goal.

His theory is that the liberal goal is to point out how bad America is, and to focus only on what we do wrong. This seems about right to me. Just remember Kerry's campaign. All about how bad Bush is, not how great he was or his ideas.

He uses the decline of traditionally liberal professions, such as the arts as examples. How Hollywood can no longer put together a decent movie (citing Crash, among other Academy nominees, which I agreed with as atrocious, not a single thread of a story in that POS movie). How most news media is utterly lacking in true reporting, and only focuses on sensationalism, blowing it out of proportion, citing Abu Gharib, where not one person was killed. How a museum takes down a Monet to put up a picture of a jar of piss with a crucifix in it, rejecting the prevailing religion with something that makes a statement, rather than what is truly beautiful art.

He also focuses on the "mindless indiscriminantness" of modern liberal dogma, as brought forward in the liberal book "All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten", where people reject ugly things in the world to remain in their 5 YO utopia. "All that is good is evil, all that is evil is so because of the good." Nihilism.

He also humerously quotes Supertramp's "Goodbye Stranger" where the dude leaves his GF, "I believe what you say is the undisputed truth, but I have to see things my own way just to keep me in my youth."

=

Of course, the Republicans use fear lately to try and make themselves important, but that's a different thread.

Re: "How Modern Liberals Think"

THe Liberals in Canada find the Conservatives scary because when the Conservatives talk about doing something, they actually follow through with it, as opposed to slinging mud and rhetoric.

The Liberals will go on about the things they want, but what they really want is just to be heard saying they want it, without actually following through. They want to be on the favorable PC side of the debate, even if they know they're wrong.

He put together a very decent talk around this concept.

I thought it was quite good.
