It's on like Donkey Kong!!

Don't forget the Winter Olympics are scheduled to be in that area. Hope they can get their differences worked out before then or the smog problem in China will seem small potatoes compared to the depleted uranium in Georgia.

The pipeline that crosses Georgia can pump slightly more than 1 million barrels of crude oil per day, or more than 1 percent of the world's daily crude output. The 1,100-mile pipeline carries oil from Azerbaijan's Caspian Sea fields, estimated to hold the world's third-largest reserves. Its potential vulnerability was already in the spotlight after it was sabotaged this week, apparently by Kurdish separatists.

You should be. From everything I have read Georgia is the kind of country/people we should all be pulling for. The world already has WAY to many dictators and tyrants so we don't need the good guys hurt or the resurgence of the USSR

I was surprised the morning rally on Friday carried into the afternoon with the news of that conflict...guess they felt strengthening dollar was more important.

But I am hoping for a plunge next week.

I dont think I am alone in this... that it all makes me nervous. From what I understand Georgia has 1k troops fighting side by side with us in Iraq. They are being recalled to defend their homeland. Who is going to ferry them back in? I bet we do.

WW3 breaks out as our escort planes down some russian migs trying to take out our c5?

Russia has kinda taken a "Prick like" attitude in years as of late.

Threats of a Bear (long range nuke bomber) base in Cuba. Renewd bear flights toward Alaska. Selling arms and cavorting with Hugo. Selling Harpoons to Iran. What else am I forgeting?

Canadian CF-18 pilots have been waving at Bear pilots in the north quite a bit lately.

Is this the modern-day Sudetenland?

Iain Dale's Diary: Guest Blog: The Trouble With Appeasement

I think it's time for the EU to wake up, but I doubt that will happen quickly.

No. Far from it. There's more to the story than I've seen in the media so far. It's easy to jump on Russia because we "don't like them" or disagree with their leadership.

Georgia actually poked the Bear with a stick in this case.

That just looks like a stick...it's really an oil pipeline...

Luckily, the Euros won't war over oil (too 20th century) and the Septics have lost their taste for "liberatin'", (too Bushistan) so it will be a double helping of peace, love, and happiness for all...

Mutual poking on this front has been going on since Georgia left the USSR. Yes it is not clear cut but Russia is NOT our friend and that seems to be forgotten recently. It scares me that the west in general seems to be going through the mistakes predating the world wars with appeasement and disarmament. Hope I am WAY wrong

Because they are an ally that was helping us in Iraq and are mostly politically our friend also. For the same reason we would help the Brits, Aussies, Canadians... etc. If it was not troops we would provide aid also even offering to ruthless dictator scum that refuse it starving their disaster plagued people.

Georgia conflict stokes energy supply concerns - Yahoo! News

So how many of those uber-critical Euros, who voted to keep Goergia out of NATO, are right now secretly hoping the US swings the diplomacy stick for them?

Georgia claims Russians have cut country in half - Yahoo! News

This isn't going very well. Not sure what Georgia's president was expecting but he's certainly getting his butt handed to him. I certainly hope he wasn't counting on us picking a fight with Russia.

Why won't other Countries help us with the debt we rack up while helping them?

Oh, that's right, Good Samaritans do things freely and for selfless reasons.

I can promise you they don't see that angle of it. You probably wouldn't either if you were in their shoes.

People expect us to help simply because we have always done so.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. There's no winning this argument.
