Voluntary deportation

Illegal immigrants invited to turn themselves in - Yahoo! News

Doubtful, but hopefully this catches on to some degree. The potential savings for the tax payers would be nice.

I'd much rather they take those funds and start rounding them up from our local Home Depots and such.

I don't have super-strong convictions about chasing them all out, but the huge congregations in these places are a public nuisance and safety issue.

I don't know that I've seen what you're talking about. "Huge congregations"...? Can you explain what you mean? They just hang out there, or is it related to their (illegal) employment in construction-related jobs?

"Nobody wants to go back," said Martinez, who came to the U.S. illegally 15 years ago from Mexico City. "We risked everything to get here for a reason."

I think that pretty much sums up why response will be very low. And isn't it ironic that they interviewed this guy who admitted coming here illegally while standing outside the ICE office?

The latter.

It's become pretty popular in Florida as well. And contractors know this. So, it turns into an impropmtu labor station where contractors can pick up as many as they need for the day without having to pay local labor force office fees.

He could have taken care of his paperwork since.

Yep. It's been going on for a few years in the SF Bay and south now.

It's led to many problems. When I used to ride my bike through the parking lot it was an almost daily bunch of bullshit so I changed my route. Just last night I was getting a bunch of "come here white-boy, come here now" horseshit from one as we drove by with the window down. Worse than that there have been many batteries to go along with the daily assaults. They leave trash everywhere, bust bottles, they block cars, all kinds of bad stuff. The companies call the cops to come round them up from their property and they refuse to respond.

I went to a home store up in NorCal last week (where inexplicably they don't set up) and I almost couldn't believe how nice it was without all those dirtbags out front.

Here (in Delaware) the problem is growing, but it's obviously nowhere near as bad as in Cali and other southern states. Interesting to hear about how aggressive/bold their behavior is when they're in larger groups. Here you usually see no more than three or four at a time, and they are very quiet and respectful; they certainly don't speak much English, if any. It seems that around here, they're just trying not to stand out.

Yet another reason why I do not miss that shithole Florida.

It hadn't gotten quite that bad before we moved, but I've heard similar accounts to yours from friends and family since.

I remember reading somewhere that a few sanctuary cities were going to force the stores (HD, Lowe's, etc.) to build air conditioned sheds and basically support the "day laborers".

I'm too lazy to find a reference or link today...
