Got my vote. I am tired of a Liberal Republicrat as the only choice. He has a decent to excellent track record. I like the Libertarians though sometimes they attract unrealistic people. Overall I cannot see voting for someone that actually believes in freedom as throwing my vote away, while voting for someone that whizzes on the Constitution (John McCain) by destroying free speech or a extreme socialist (Barack Obama) does seem like a waste.

Interesting reading for you, sheep.

Bob Barr - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He's changed his very-strongly-held positions radically. He ended up lobbying for a group he fought vehemently in congress for years, and who were partly responsible for his defeat. Is this a matter of falling into line with the Libertarian "orthodoxy" um, sorry... or has he come to these LIBERAL positions honestly?

I'm of the opinion that we ought to bring our troops back from the war on drugs myself.

Sorry did not help you. There is some that an opinion changed over a long period (sometimes they should). Other items are yes Libertarian in nature such as the war. However on that particular item the post is wrong, instead of reading an opinion posted on Wiki I actually listened to HIM in a 1/2+ interview as to the reasons WHY. No he did not say pull out since we are already there, rather he stated we should pull back ASAP and do so in MANY other places world wide. WIKI is better than the network news but still very much slanted on any political item.

Oh and how many items have you changed opinion on since in office? That is not necessarily a bad thing. Yes it can mean you blow with the wind but it might also mean you LEARNED something I am betting you personally have learned a lot since in office. I am considering it possible that he became disappointed with the Elephants when they won under the contract and then back slid so far after that victory (to be to similar to the Donkeys). Of course some of us were born knowing everything and never needed to change opinion (haven't met her yet though)

It's the drug thing that interests me, since his frequent 'Barr amendments' all had to do with some anti-drug sentence mandates. He was the point man in Congress on that, with his former prosecutor experience and his cloak of righteousness and all. He was also a point man on abortion and the sanctity-of-marriage-blah-blah-blah until it became known that he didn't exactly walk the walk on those issues.

I just think it's indicative of how much he appears to have changed on an issue that cost him an election, and coincidentally puts him in strong standing with a political party. If you consider Libertarians a political party.

I just always thought this guy was a particularly egregious tool.

And make no mistake, a vote for him is a vote for Barack, especially if one lives in Georgia.

I do agree with you that a sure sign of a political moron is someone that never changes their opinion as more facts become known - and in truth, all the presidential candidates have reversed their stances radically on issues that recently defined their political identities - as a matter of convenience if not adaptation to fact. But the republic will likely survive any of them.

Next you will be using the same logic to justify not voting for the Ovine Party

Oh, you've been a model of consistency. I'm consistently baffled as to what the hell you're talking about.

Bob Barr Shows Leadership to Unify Liberty Movement
Quote:

Asks Paul to Run as his Vice President

Atlanta, GA - Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party nominee for president, has invited GOP Congressman Ron Paul to be his running mate in the upcoming election. In a letter sent to Paul, Barr called Paul one of the "few American patriots" who exist in today's society, and asked him to "seriously consider this final offer as an opportunity to show true, lasting leadership beyond party politics."

Barr cited Paul's 1987 letter to then-GOP Chairman Frank Fahrenkopf, in which Paul stated that, "after years of trying to work through the Republican Party both in and out of government. . . concluded that efforts must be carried on outside the Republican Party."

Though recognizing Paul's personal investment in the Republican Party and his recent attempts to reform the party from inside, Barr said he disagreed with Paul's strategy. "Better options remain that will carry a message of liberty onto the ballot in November and beyond," Barr stated, adding at a news conference called today at the National Press Club, that "change in politics and public policy in America cannot and will not be done from within the current, two-party system."

Barr continued, "'The status quo will not change the status quo' and impact comes entirely from gaining votes in the General Election." That is why Barr said he would remain focused on the Libertarian Party's electoral effort and clear message, and why he invited Paul to join him.

"While you declined my offer to seek the Libertarian presidential nomination many months ago, I ask that you seriously consider this final offer as an opportunity to show true, lasting leadership beyond party politics," Barr stated in his letter to Paul.

Barr's running mate, Wayne Allyn Root, expressed support: "As the Libertarian Party vice presidential nominee, I believe in one thing above all else-principle. There can be no compromise on the ideals of limited government, lower taxes, lower spending, and more freedom for the American people. Those are the principles to which I've dedicated my life. The GOP and Democratic candidates only give lip service-at best-to these ideals and principles. It is only an act at election time every four years."

"I want to end the charade once and for all," Root continued. "I am willing to sacrifice anything to advance the cause of liberty, freedom, smaller government and to enable the American taxpayer to keep more of their own money and property. Understanding Dr. Ron Paul's reputation and name recognition in the freedom movement, I am willing to step aside as Libertarian vice presidential candidate if he would be willing to take my place. I will pledge to work day and night, just as I have as the vice presidential nominee, to support Dr. Paul. I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for the Libertarian and freedom movements. I encourage Dr. Paul to accept Congressman Barr's offer. The campaign is making this offer because we believe there is no sacrifice too large when it comes to improving the lives of the American people and American taxpayers."

Did that happen today? Because I saw this morning that Ron Paul threw his hat in the "vote for a third party candidate" ring and was supporting Barr.

Libertarian Party presidential nominee Bob Barr is trying to get the names of John McCain and Barack Obama removed from the election ballot in Texas.
Barr said Tuesday he had filed a lawsuit seeking to remove the names of the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees because he said they missed the official filing deadline to be on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.

"He said the ballot includes presidential candidates nominated by the Democratic, Republican and Libertarian parties as well as declared write-in candidates"

If they are included then why are they write in candidates
