Huh. Just today I noticed diesel at $4.999/gal for the first time in at least 6 months at my local station.

We'll see if it goes back up.

But if Obama goes and talks to them, they'll stop.

That's the theory, right?

Maybe Pelosi and her minions can sue them.

They probably will. They have a record of embarrassing outgoing clueless presidents in order to set up some kind of self-interested quid pro quo with a possible incoming one.

That's why they waited until January of 1980 to let the hostages go. They made the deal with Reagan when he was a candidate, and sealed it when he was president-elect. Jimmy Carter looked like a dickless schmuck (admittedly, not a difficult portrayal) Ronnie looked tough as hell. The ayatollahs got promises of illegal weapons for hostages. The press had a field day for a couple years. Ollie North got a really cool alarm system for his house, and the weapons were used to murder about a million Iraqi civilians.

Ah, the good old days....

Extremely interesting point. Nicely done.

Most Americans do not understand the priority some other cultures put on "face"; the Iranians would believe this to be a big gift to the new guy, whoever he is.

There's more to all the peacock feathers than simple oneupsmanship. There's an entire region to show strength and supremacy in now that the only other regional power is on the ropes.

Today an unusual military demonstration was held by the head of the Iranian Air Farce and the Navy Admiral in charge of submarines. The demonstration was to be secret but publicised at the last minute to allow western press to report on the mighty Iranian weapons industry. The Iranian military industrial complex have developed a submarine launched fighter aircraft, capable of being launched from any sub in the Iranian Navy. Iranian sources say the project was develpoed from nothing to finished aircraft in just 3 days by the Iranian Experts using just fibreglass and coat hangers. At no time was photoshop used says a spokesman. Reports indicate the experimental aircraft was launched from a new type of 'Carrier Submarine' designed to destroy western Nimitz Class aircraft carriers by photoshopping missiles onto high definition images of he US fleet. The spokesman claimed the new carrier sub could carry 10,000 of the new fighters and if needed could blow itsef up on command. The US navy had nobody available for comment as all navy staff were too busy programming Iranian GPS co-ordinates into cruise missiles.
