More hot air.

My thought? That smart oil man knows the government wastes a hell of a lot more welfare money to wind than oil, and that's saying something!

warning! a bit of a ramble follows:

We went back to Odessa a few weeks ago to attend another funeral. It's a long drive, almost halfway to California...Odessa is OIL. Parking lots are 99% pickup trucks and the tap-water is undrinkable due to salt water and other pollution from decades of drilling. The town always has been the bleakest I've ever seen, like someone who only knew how to paint in faded beige, a bleakness that is accentuated by harsh sunlight in zero humidity.

On the way there off 20, there were hundreds and hundreds of windmills in east-to-west lines passing off the northern and southern horizons for what seemed like many miles.

Wonder how many of those were built without heavy subsidy money?

I have family who invested in one of the really big windmill projects here in California, and it had very little to do with the ROI of the project on it's own...also interesting no new areas have been developed here since the government reneged on their dole in that project. (Which happened once that previous oil crisis was a memory)

That $700 billion a year to buy foreign oil gets used up pretty quick when you start buying windmills. 22% of the pie seems pretty ambitious.

Who will pay for it?

From all those pictures I get the idea I am going to have to drive real fast in a car with a propeller mounted to the roof generating energy.

I know what this save the planet stuff is really about.

I sat next to a Navy guy on a plane today who wants to be the Bill Gates of solar.

I pointed out solar panels are negative margins when the government isn't handing out welfare and he launched into a diatribe about, well all we really need is a windmill in every yard. They only have to be 83' up.

So far, the only people I've seen come out in favor of Pickens' Plan are the companies who stand to gain from the switches.

The CNG commercial gets me the most because it even flashes the fact that the guy proposing the switch is CEO of one of the largest CNG companies in the US.
