Dirty Alberta Oil

...is apparently an issue in parts of the USA, with the mayor of Portland leading a group of city mayors in vowing not to run their municipal fleet vehicles on Alberta's "dirty" tar sands petroleum. Barrack Hussein Obama has been hinting about it too...

Here are a few other fuel sources they can try out:

-Saudi Arabia, home of those peaceful religious people from the religion of peace who like to crash your airplanes into your skyscrapers and self-detonate at bus stops, subway tunnels and cafes.

-Sudan... now 40% genocide-free!

-Ethanol... the perfectly clean low-cost fuel with absolutely no drawbacks!

-Biodiesel (see above)

-Poke a few holes in a few wildlife reserves and ocean floors. As long as it's not the Boreal Forest.

Guess we better get started on that pipeline to the west coast eh?

Those people are anti-progress luddites and should be mocked openly in public, often.

Tar sands - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It has been labelled as high carbon and expensive. Although it is more expensive to get out of the ground and upgrade to Synthetic Crude Oil it is more expensive than conventional (Drilled) oil. This expensive oil is not the reason for the cost increases in crude oil.

I grew up in Portland. It is the communist outpost for the disaffected and disillusioned that still drink the kool-aid. So it is no surprise that this idiot is touting that. What I can't stand is that they won't run this oil, but they will not offer up a viable alternative. Drives me nuts sometimes ...

This is going to sound "funny", but in buying our car we almost bought a Prius. We found a dealer that did MSRP, and it was tolerable, though not even close to fun to drive. The wait was 2 months.

The main reason I insisted we test drive it, and take a hard look at doing it, was the Presidential election and Pelosi's Congress.

Supply and Demand will not lead us to $8/gal fuel any time soon.

Messing with this stuff politically can get prices there in a month, and that will devastate the country. Or create a 70's situation where the pricing is fixed, and supply does not keep up with Demand.

Obama, and especially his party hacks like Pelosi, abso-fucking-lutely terrify me in regards to energy policy. I have seen them do it in California, and the noises I'm hearing in regards to suing Opec, taxing, setting prices, and refusing to negotiate with the suppliers, are exactly what caused the power crisis in Cali. It was completely a politically based problem.

McCain doesn't get a pass, his tax cut was economically unsound as well, but nothing like what I'm hearing murmurs of from the Demos.

You know, a Fit gets mileage equal to the Prius for thousands less.

My '96 Nissan 200sx SE-R gets the same mileage as what is listed for the Fit, and could be had for $3000. It probably has more power than the Fit as well.

Piss on Honda.

Their consistently crap, actually, consistently offensive, dealers mean we'll probably never own another.

Edit: I'd like to add, I'm the less disgusted of the two of us. She's truly pissed off.

Madness. Absolute and utter madness. Give me Canadian Oil sands all day long. Oil from people that speak the same language, and have similar legal and moral systems? Yeah, it's a no-brainer. Hence the reason our ultra-left doesn't get it.

The Canadians make the mistake of believing we'll do what is right, where instead our politicians are letting themselves be bought by the Saudis who don't like the competition, and wrap their corruption in a blanket of "green".
