Talkin' bout my F'd up generation..The Boomer's political torch is passed, hopefully

I made reference to this in another post - that (generally speaking), my self-absorbed, clueless, sacrifice-averse generation can't be trusted to lead.

John Zogby (Zogby International Polling) agrees: But he's one of us, so be cautious if you are going to trust anyone over 50-- or under 70.

Except Abtech. That guy's timeless.

Good article, though:

John Zogby: The End of Boomerism as We Know It - Politics on The Huffington Post

Quote:
The Clintons are prototypical Baby Boomers -- committed to ideals of peace and justice but overwhelmed with themselves. They (we, because I was born in 1948) are consumed with being the center of attention, the bride and groom at every wedding, so much so, that the ends don't simply justify the means, they are one and the same. Getting elected is the game, the final goal, the definition of self-worth. In his recent book, former White House spokesman Scott McClellan decried the mentality of "the permanent campaign" that he said permeated the White House of George W. Bush (the other Boomer president), which in some respects mirrors the Clinton behavior.
Sad to say, Bill Clinton became best known for the hallmarks of Boomerism -- self-centeredness and permanent adolescence -- as exhibited by the Lewinsky affair and all the other, lesser controversies and scandals.

Oh, it's not over. The boomers will haunt and continue to destroy this country for the next 2-3 decades.

And then there is their legacy; the kids the boomers raised....like me.

Precisely.

Oh, and the ones who played little league where no team ever lost. Or who don't get grades at school. Gotta protect that self-esteem you know, and Boomer's little kid could never be the loser!

Actually, she and I are one of the "lost" generations, older than the millenials though. We taunted the kids we beat at sports with our big trophies, pissed and moaned when we lost, and sure the hell were graded on all our work.

Ditto. I guess it's our job to teach them to get better at losing if they don't man up.

Too bad our tax dollars will be paying for their welfare when they don't want to do real work.
