The 15 express lanes have been that way for years now. I haven't driven up that way in a year or so, maybe they have been closed recently, but "pay to play" lanes look like the future of SoCal.

The latest... not content with just red light cameras, a company is now pitching cameras that will do automatic plate recognition, and then check to see if the vehicle is insured.

If you aren't insured... gotcha! Instant ticket. The system would mass check everyone driving by that it can see.

I have been talking to friends here in California about why we can end up with inane voter ballot initiatives like Prop 2, which now requires a certain amount of space for livestock, and Prop 7 and 9 which had to do with the state using alternative fuels in cars, both which were on last year's ballot.

Why have we not had a voter forced ballot initiative to ban camera based traffic enforcement? NO ONE I talk to thinks they are a good thing, everyone just sees them as a "driving tax", etc.
