How much to rework an Ohlins rear?

Anyone have approxiamate price on what it would cost to have a Ohlins rear shock setup (assume spring needed) I am debating on going new or getting used and having it rebuilt. So I need a guess on rebuild cost to factor in.

    Thanks

    Call Dan Kyle.

I bought my R/T forks used from a semi-pro racer and immediately sent them to Dan. He changed out the springs and put new oil in them, it was like $100 and change if that much.

You could ask us and get a bunch of guesses and smartass responses, or you could call Ohlins, Thermosman or Kyle and get the real story.

Insofar as they are rebuildable, why in the world would you get a new one?

If a new one was $1000 and a used one was $600 but required respringing, revalving and rebuild at $300 (example) then why not get a new with warranty from a reputable dealer for $100 rather than risking a dodgy shck or thief on fleabay? I am trying to get a guess on the delta and thought maybe someone might have recently had one rebuilt and I could get a SWAG.

I inquired and stig petersen was $150 for a revalve and $95 for the rebuild. See here:

Getting mine worked through Dan was a bit more, something like 3-400 if memory serves. That was a new spring and rebuild/valving.

As stated, call 'em. Also be honest with your weight, in gear.

Yeah, doing a revalve will cost more than a simple oil change.

Yup, really depends on what it needs. I know my R/T forks had been thoroughly used and abused. Dan popped them open and said new springs for my weight and new oil, nothing more. They make a good product.
