    190 vs. 180 rear tire......

So the 929 needs a rear tire. Seems a never ending thing, right? Anyway, I've been hearing that a 180 tire will turn in quicker that a 190. I have a basic grasp of the physics involved, so I'm not disputing the claim. Aside from looking kind of funny (as in too small), what other issues are there? What comes immediatly to mind is final drive ratio/powerband/speedo issues.

Generally what you say has been true in mine and others expereinces. What kind of riding (street/track) do you do, and what is your suspension situation?

A 180/55 and a 190/50 are very close to the same diameter on the brands I checked.

Re: 190 vs. 180 rear tire......

I considered doing this on the Triumph 955 Daytona I had. The local guy I buy tires from (a racer) said that it depends on rim width whether it will be a benefit or not. Putting a norrow tire on a rim wider than what it is designed for will cause the tire's cross section profile to be distorted from what it was engineered for.

Made sense to me, I went with a 190. Maybe others have more experience with this.

Makes sense to me also. With a bone stock suspension and with my riding strictly street and local twisties, I think I'll stay with the 190. Thanks guys.

I had 180/55 on my 954 because a couple tire guys convinced me that the 180 turns so much quicker and now went back to a 190/55 using the Dunlop 209s...

I will never use a 180 on that bike again.....

190 is the way to go and on the 929..... you would have to put a 300 on it before it turned in to a corner slow.
