CBRVFR is gonna love this one..I got a lap timer...

...and was wondering where you guys put the receiver. I got a Mychron Light TG. I'm going to velcro (and maybe zip tie) the display to my speedo, and maybe put the receiver on the fork? It's only a 20 inch cable, which sucks, looks like the fork is my only option, eh?

Yep, what Conq said is a great option for the timer unit itself, although I didn't know that they made options for the receiver.

On my 600 I also have the very short cable, so I actually just velcroed it to the top flat part on my Scotts steering damper, and it picks up the beacon just fine. On the 1098, I have a long cable, but nowhere flat to mount it on the tail as I did on my RC! So, I just velcroed it to the top of the triple clamp, and it also seems to work fine.

yeah, if I wanted the holder, I would have gotten it. On top of the damper is a good idea, thanks Whip!

Oh, and it will pick up any type of beacon, correct?

I built a small aluminum bracket to hold my receiver on with Velcro and then throw a zip tie on there for good measure. The lap timer holders are good till you have to move your forks to the top position, ask Heavy Dee about his ordeal.

Yea, w/ your forks flush w/ the tripple the laptimerholder thing doesn't work...at all. It leaves nowhere to attach it unless you pull the forks out of the tripple and mount it beneath the clipon. Which I may do, but I doubt.

I'm currently at 5 mm showing and the that's not quite enough yet. It goes on and appears secure...but it's off before the first lap is complete.

But, if your geometry is set and you have enough fork tube showing, it's a great product.

I have the same measurements on mine, go ahead and secure it like normal. Tie a piece of safety wire wedging it between the head of the allen and the body of the plate and it will stay put.

It should. I have an XT on one bike, and a MyChron on the other. Sometimes they get a little finicky, but it's usually not a problem.

Yes, and that's even niftier lookin! Is the velcro on the tank where you use to put the sensor? And just out of curiosity, why did you put your kill switch on the left?

I wonder if I could Mickey Mouse something myself. what the hell...the rest of my bike looks ghetto, so why not one more piece? lol I wonder how thick of a sheet of aluminum I should get??

Yes, the velcro on the tank is for the pickup. You can point it either way, depending on the beacon location.
I have never set up my AIM beacon as there is always someone around with a beacon ready to put theirs up. It picks up the XT beacon without issue.
I had fabbed up my own ghetto version of that mount and then contacted the Great Baketech to make a manly version for me. Mine worked, but didn't look the business and vibrated more than I liked due to it being too thin.
I know he still has the template and he has checked fitment to other Hondas. It will pretty much mount to any Honda.
It is directly in front of your face in full tuck and the AIM has those huge digits so you can see your time without really even taking your eyes off the track ahead to look at the display. Depending on beam location, of course.
There is also just velcro on the display mount, never had any reason to use zipties as well. It's the industrial strength stuff found at any auto parts store (but Baketechque has a line on even better stuff you may be able to con him into including with the mount - if he's up to making one for you).

Kill switch is on the left originally due to necessity. I was having a hard time situating things right so there was enough room on that side and just out of sheer luck with the timing saw a picture of one of the factory Yamaha bikes with the switch over there that evening over on 'Soup.
To be honest, it never really even dawned on me to put it over there, but once I placed it there, it just felt so much more natural to start the bike with my left hand. After I had adjusted the bars a couple more times to my liking I found that there was then room for the switch on the right side, but it stayed on the left because it just flat felt better.

I ordered a fancy schmancy lap timer holder but the damn thing wouldn't stay on. I'd have to lower my front end to have enough fork for the clamp to bite onto for it to stay. I just said piss on it, bought some velcro and slapped it on top of my HESD.

I'm too lazy to pay attention to the details. Besides theoretically you could've left the switch mounted albeit non-functional.
