    Brakes without spring clips?

    Dumb question:

Is there any issue running my front brakes without the spring clips? Are they just there to suppress rattling?

What if that rattling pushes your caliper piston back?

Guys at the track have been telling me to ditch them... maybe I will. They're a pain in the ass.

Why are they a pain? Not sure that I'd want them rattling, but other than that can't see how it would hurt. Personally I'd leave them in, but that's just me.

Just make certain to pump the brakes if you get into some headshake. The pads will back out and you have no brakes without the spring clips for the first couple of applications after the front end wags . . .

    Now in stereo
    Visionaries say "Yes, we can."
    Engineers say "Not so fast."

Maybe I should just ditch the front brakes altogether. I don't want to go flying over the handlebars.

It will make you faster. Who needs brakes anyway? Another thing to consider is if the pads are vibrating eventually something will wear. Probably the slots in your caliper.
