Perhaps the blood lead testing should be determined by the state. Here in Missouri there is actually a problem with high levels of lead in blood because there were some big lead mining communities here. I used to play at an old mine site when I was little. Perhaps that explains some things... Several years ago in my hometown, the EPA had to go into several neighborhoods and remove a few feet of soil and replace it with clean soil.

I can see being more restrictive with selling things containing lead. It is not uncommon for us to run toxicology panels on dead animals and fine elevated blood lead levels. Turns out there were old engines or something like that tossed out in the field, and for some reason the dumb animals think licking old engines is a cool thing to do.

All that said, this motorcycle crap is ridiculous. One of the first things I taught my son when he got his ATV was not to lick any part of it. He really wanted to and put up a fight, but I said, "No. You may not lick this."

Typical over-mothering reaction... let the kid have some fun, for cryin' out loud.

I'm pretty sure it's being overlooked now. That's the word around here. Not sure about other places though
