I've been thinking of parting out

Well this winter I have been thinking of parting my 1000RR out. Don't really know why, the bike works AMAZING handles great, pulls hard, does everything exactly how it should.

With everyone moving on to a 600 it seems I am thinking that is what has made me start along the lines of a part out.

It could also be that I get tired of people telling me that it is the bike that makes me pass them and lap 10-12 seconds a lap faster than them, and that it has nothing to do with my limited abilites.

I doubt that I will do it as it is VERY late in the season to start that kind of thing, but I've kind of been considering a newer 600RR ala JBD or Phobe, lightly written off and easily fixed. I still like working on the bikes, maybe it's just the fact that I've pretty much ran out of things to change on mine? hahaha I would likely loose my shirt on a lot of parts, but I think that the next bike won't be all shiney and "blinged out" as I hear all to often, instead along the lines of more sutble and usable mods, perhaps that are legal in some race series.

I just thought that I would jot this down as I don't know what I am thinking right now. the bike is long paid for, same for all the parts, and I already have a street bike and a "fun" bike...it's not like I need the cash from it for something else, not sure why I am even leaning this way but, it has been popping into my head more and more lately.

Any one have any thoughts on it, and please don't ask for a mod list... I don't have all day to type that out... hahaha

You'll get more money for whatever you sell today than if you sell it in two years.

screw what everyone else says, from what I saw you're pretty damn fast on that thing. any one of these wannabees ever get asked for an autograph?

that thing is well sorted, I say keep it and just ride the damn thing. If you happen to find a great deal on a 600 or other bike you want that just can't be passed up I say go for it.

Someone is concerned being passed by a 600 at Calabogie?

Don't know what to tell you.... Your bike is sure nice! You're pretty damn good on it too.... I'd say wait a few weeks, ride mine and decide then

I just thought that you're going to be riding one in less than a week at Spencer, so screw the offer

Those were likely one of the only things I was going to keep, all I would have to do would be get some new spacers(I think) if I decide to part though I'll let you know.

Maybe the whole thing was started by a guy on 1000RR.net, he parted his bike out with pretty much the same kinda stuff in about a day and got all his asking prices. looked like a very low hassle way to do things.

Not concerned at all about being passed by a 600RR, remember the guy on the SV650 running in the 15's there, if I was to be worried it would be by him

I was going to say, I should be getting some seat time on an 07 600RR VERY soon

I put mine back to stock and it took me less than a week to sell off all the fancy parts.

    Do it!

How long did it take you to get rid of the 1KRR? I don't think that I would keep it, mind you the parts on this one would almost buy a new bike...

Still haven't.... only just listed it though. I didn't bother trying in the winter. It's bike selling season now though.

how much you asking for it?
My frame has a couple of marks on it from some sh!tty track plastics, but other than that, it's in very nice shape.

Nice that would buy one of those nicely kitted 600RR that everyone posted in JBD's 600cc racebike thread. I'd still have money left over to play with too... that'd pay for at least a couple seasons at the track. Def. food for thought

You're kidding yourself if you think you're going to end up making money out of this. I know you enough to know that you're going to spend quite some $$ on the 600.

Can you get an engine restrictor kit to keep the power of the 1K down to something closer to the 6. THis has several advantages:

    1. When people blame you b/c you pass them on the 1K, you can show them that it's making no more power than their 600.

    2. You'll still get to tinker - b/c err, you're putting restricters on it?

I dunno, just a thought - I'd hate to think of the hassle of removing everything and then selling. I'd rather keep it and save the hassle.
