Very authentic looking Bank of America SCAM

Got this in my inbox earlier, its path and headers look almost like actual BOA email...so I felt compelled to actually post a warning to those not in the know to not click any links in email from bankofamerica.com.

Here is what mine said, but as stated...it appeared very authentic. Messagelabs removed the clickto path though...

What stupid text...sad thing is, I'm sure they'll get more than one.

No online banking for me. Ever.

They're targeting so much better now that I'd swear someone on the inside is handing out information.

I'm just curious...Why not? ... Isn't your money at the bank FDIC insured in case of fraud or theft? So, doesn't that cover online banking as well?

We had a breach in online security at our bank and it was cleared up within a day. We were notified and asked to report any unusual activity in our accounts...luckily, we didn't have any issues...

I thought that we were insured from the banks going belly up...but Im not sure. I dont think we are insured from fraud or theft unless offered by your bank...could be wrong though.

Re: Very authentic looking Bank of America SCAM

    FDIC FAQ

    and

    Robberies and Other Thefts
Stolen funds may be covered by what's called a banker's blanket bond, which is a multi-purpose insurance policy a bank purchases to protect itself from fire, flood, earthquake, robbery, defalcation, embezzlement and other causes of disappearing funds. In any event, an occurrence such as a fire or bank robbery may result in a loss to the bank but should not result in a loss to the bank's customers.
If a third party somehow gains access to your account and transacts business that you would not approve of, you must contact the bank and your local law enforcement authorities, who have jurisdiction over this type of wrongdoing.

    2 reasons.

    1) I know someone who used to do online bank security.
    2) I don't do online bill paying because of that, so it offers me no convenience either.

Hey, I was tired, okay !?!

It was me, but it wasn't this one, but it was one using B of A and it was done in an even more convincing manner...

    ...and with no grammatical errors.

...did I say it was convincing?

    ...really.

I do security for a corporate credit union, and unless the institution is completely inept, you are safe. The new FFIEC guidelines that mandate multifactor authentication will make it even better.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government.

Yes, it probably pays better then hi-tech

There is nothing wrong with that, I did that for several years in-between jobs. Just that eventually they gave me the ultimatum of either wearing pants or them calling security on me. Suprised it lasted as long as it did as I met lots of interesting people.
