    Damn, this sucks........

I've often wondered why this is allowed. "The public has a right to know" seems a pretty lame arguement at a time like this. Why do we need to see it live from the air? What if it hadn't been an empty park where it all came down?

The man fleeing from police was later taken into custody by a SWAT team after barricading himself inside a house, police said. Police Chief Jack Harris suggested he could be charged in connection with the collision.
"I believe you will want to talk to investigators, but I think he will be held responsible for any of the deaths from this tragedy," Harris told reporters at the scene.

Yeah I saw that too. IN this day and age you can connect anything to anything and never he held responsible or accountable for actions/inactions. The crash was the pilots of both aircrafts fault and no others.

NOw, I am wondering if the police will use this case as justification to get the airspace completely clear with the use of Air Support?

RIP to the journalist but in no way was the jacker responsible for their lack of situational awareness.

How sad - prayers to their families and friends. You're correct, Mojave954. Unfortunately, pilot error is to blame.

At the station where I work, I monitor our helicopter reporter via radio. He's continually talking to the tower to indicate his location - and reporting traffic/breaking news for two radio stations, doing live shots for TV, and directing his cameraman. Throw in talking with me and it's the epitome of multi-tasking, truly amazing.

As for the coverage, I think TV hopes for another OJ scenario. Despite the craziness, our pilot has directed fire crews to a family trapped on a burning roof, and located an armed suspect who'd jumped a fence and lost his pursuers. He's also gotten some incredible storm footage.

He invited me to ride along some time - sounds like a helluva ride, but I think I'd have to take a change of underwear.
