We hear quite often from wives on Fort Leavenworth - mainly reserves and guard members. You can hear the suspension of emotion in their voices - like a single moment of thinking about reality might just be too much. Being mom and dad, shouldering the whole weight of the household, knowing that your spouse feels guilty about not being home to help, and still maintaining stability for your family is an incredible feat. Pray for our servicemen and women and hug those waiting at home!
In a standard IED, they hide them on routes that are heavily travelled and wait within viewing distance to initiate the explosive. With a VBIED, they hop in their car or truck and search you out. They pretty much just drive around looking for something to press the trigger next to.
For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

If you watch you can see the vehicle that exploded swerve in. Also I believe the vehicle in front of the pickup is a Hummer also.

Not that it matters, but the vehicle the camera in looks like a pickup to me (wipers on a Hummer are mounted to the top of the windshield). The vehicle in the lead is a Hummer but I can't tell if it's uparmored or not. I sure hope it was.

Good eye, at first viewing, I had assumed the camera vehicle was a hummer...
