Re: What are you listening to?

May I thank deftones156 for the Iron & Wine's Our Endless Numbered Days idea , which I accompanied with Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens, recommended elsewhere.

Last night was a concert with LSO conducted by Colin Davis, Emmanuel Ax playing Mozart's Piano Concerto no 22, Mozart's Haffner symphony and Elgar's Enigma variations .

Re: What are you listening to?

Funny, based on the stores I've been to, I find vinyl and punks go very much hand in hand.

Re: What are you listening to?

Next time I head over to my new favorite So-Cal record store, Vinyl Solutions in Huntington Beach, I might try to take a picture.

Imagine High Fidelity, with a bunch of arrogant punk rockers running the place.

I've found some of the coolest music stores looking for records lately.

Thats right. I scored a stack of Toy-Dolls records off a punk skinhead years ago. Nellie the elephant gets played on Kroq from time to time as a classic.

I wish all of that was true.

She obviously is much more accomplished as a trackday rider than a music listener .

You certainly listen to some great works and performances. I would guess you have some vinyl still hanging around and the means to listen to it.

Linn Axis, probably 15+ years old, but very rarely used. Supertramp, 10CC, Cream anyone?

The Starting Line - Say it Like You Mean It

Some emo band that sounds like every other emo band, but I still like for some reason.

But Wildflower might be up next. Thanks for the idea Mo.

I'm on my ride along for my new job, working with the boss to learn the ropes. I can't really stand morning shows at all, and these guys are really boring!

Now he's got on a country station...I need my own ride SOON!

Fucking awesome album, isn't it?

Have you picked up his new one, Highway Companion? Not quite as good as Wildflower, but not much worse.

Picked it up over the holidays. Good album if you're in the mood, but I agree, Wildflowers is better.

It does sound good on vinyl too!

I was thinking the exact same thing while listening to him on the iPod on the way home on the plane. Saxophone Colossus, Tenor Madness, and Way Out West are three of my favorites, and some of his newer stuff is very good as well.

I'd also recommend a couple of great recordings by Joe Henderson: Lush Life (featuring the music of Billy Strayhorn), and Double Rainbow: The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
