Love the Weezer song, and the pop culture YouTube video references are pretty clever too (even if I only get about half of them):

combination of
Atreyu
Disturbed
Fort Minor
Deaf Pedestrians
Linkin Park

and some Rob Zombie remixes...

spent hours getting all the slow crap off my ipod as well to make sure I have a good solid mix for long rides...

The Flobots: Fight With Tools

Bit immature "protest" lyrics but what an awesome and unique sound. Think 311 meets Cake meets Eminem

Joplinish . . . Interesting thought, as I have heard several people compare her style in this song to Melissa Ethridge. Her name is Laura Santodonato and if I understand correctly has pursued other endeavors beyond singing. The original recording is from 1993 and I have been doing archival transfers for a couple of record companies and have had the opportunity to remix several songs from this time period (and earlier). The perceived stereo space is a complex composition of varying time and phase relationships and something I enjoy working with. Take a listen to the 2 versions of Gunman for a different spin on the stereo soundstage.

Good mixing again.

The lead singer in this one sounds a slight bit pitchy to me in some of his vibrato Who is in the chorus?

I think his phrasing gets him in trouble

I'll hold off to see if someone can guess, but it's someone that is relatively well known as a rock vocalist during the past 30+ years. Usually not a soloist (although he has had a couple very big solo hits).

What do you mean by "phrasing"? (I know it's not related to word choice )
Whoever it is, I recognize but cant pull it out of the grey goo. He sounds really smooth and pure in this.

In this case, I'm referring to him trying a bit too hard. This is a common trait for several singers. Rather than just singing "the line", they have a tendency to try and give it every trick in the book. I think Mariah Carey invented this technique.

I have worked with vocalists that always try to make a 3 note melody into a few hundred half tones with multiple accents, vibrato and whatever else they can muster . . . They award bonus points on American Idol for singing this way .
