"Cash" and "Cash Money" Rant

Quote:
I want your bike. I'm willing to pay cash money.
Quote:
What's the best cash price you'll take for your bike?
Quote:
Will you take $4500 cash for the bike?
Do I look like a f**king dealer? I sure as hell don't offer financing plans, so how else do they think people would be paying for it?

Re: "Cash" and "Cash Money" Rant

A cashiers check is the same as cash (as long as you verify it with the bank before signing anything over).

But no one I know would take a personal check as payment for a bike anyway.

For you, I would require cash only, and I would have to have the secret service check it out first.

Re: "Cash" and "Cash Money" Rant

Yeah, that whole "they'll take less for cash" menatality is so fooked in so many ways that it is sad.
Dealing with those kind of people isn't even worth it. I don't care if you bring cash or a cashier's check. Actually, I would prefer you to go to a local branch of a bank I deal with and draw a cashier's check rather than bringing cash. That way I can verify funds and have it process immediately. That is the only way I will give anyone a "discount" for using a specific type of payment. I'll discount the handful of dollars the bank charged for the cashiers check from the price of the item.
I actually told someone I wouldn't sell them my bike when they offered to bring me $500 less than I was asking in cash that day.

And the myth of dealers willing to sell cars or bikes for less if you offer cash is even more stupid.
I'll wait and let Phoube explain that, but dealers will make less money if you pay for a car with cash than if you finance it through them at the exact same price, so why would they take a couple thousand less for that cash just for the simple reason of it being cash?

If you would take $5500 would you be ok with me giving you 2 checks of $500 each and you just cash them 2 weeks apart?

Yep, when my mom was buying a new car I was negotiating the deal for her. I told the salesman that she would be paying cash for it, but at the end of the deal he still brought up the screen and started showing her what her payments would be, etc... He tried, I'll give him that.

what you gotta do is pay for half with a check today, then pay the other half with a post dated check. That's the safest way.

Re: "Cash" and "Cash Money" Rant

Always stupid.

I'll give you $500 less in cash right now yo.

What the hell do I want cash for, so I can get mugged on my way to the damned bank?!

Or my other favorite, I'll be over in an hour cash in hand....and they never show. So you have to relist or whatever.

Selling things always sucks, I hate it with a passion.

Re: "Cash" and "Cash Money" Rant

The "better deal for cash" thing doesn't work over the phone. If someone came to your house in person to look at it, liked it, and pulled out $X000.00 cash on the spot then maybe you would be inclined to take his offer.

A call or email from a person who has zero credibility with you low-balling you because they claim to have cash is fucking retarded.

Re: "Cash" and "Cash Money" Rant

Shit this reminds me of when I've sold a car/bike in the past. The people contacting you are treating you like you are a formal business/dealer. Everyone wants to try and wheel and deal. I should have recorded some of the conversations. I sold a truck for my Dad about 6 years ago and I got all sorts of calls.

Caller: I see your ad says nine thousand what will you take for it?
Me: $9,000

Caller: Well I'm paying cash.
Me: That is great, then have the $9,000 ready

Caller: Can't you cut me a deal?
Me: Sure, $9,000.

The guy that bought it did this number everyday for a week, finally gave up, and brought me $9,000 and yes it was in cash and yes I used one of those pens to make sure the 100's were legit. Man I hate selling stuff and dealing with that shit. It's almost worth it to just trade it in. Ebay is almost as bad. Auction ends, and you get an email 15 minutes after asking "Did you ship the item yet? Please provide the tracking #."

I know you take paypal! I still have the dirt gear to prove it!

Selling bikes/cars does suck. I am all for just trading them in as long as the dealer gives a fair amount.
