Turn your head and cough
Not quite this time but you get the idea. Got a tetanus shot Tuesday at 10:30. The hurting has just started to subside. Still have headaches. Next visit I suspect I will get probed . Then have an ultrasound.... no not on my uterus but irregular ekg. Someone grab a shovel already!

Nothing quite as comforting as the sound made when the ultrasound tech squirts the astroglide on the device.

You're only 35. Wait until you get to experience all the fun things they do to you at 50...

Flight physicals bring all that "old man physical" greatness to your world at age 20. And every 5 years after.
My favorite is still the dilated pupils. Eyes wide open with sunglasses on and still can't read billboards from 50' away.

Yeah, the dilated pupil experience is weird. Not a fan.

Love you too HG2!
Funny Story, and True:
My Dad had his colonoscopy and they put him out and so it was all over and went to see the doctor for the results.
Dr. tells him everything is clear and looks good, no polyps and that he should continue to eat his fruit.
My Dad looks at him funny and says "how do you know I eat a lot of fruit?"
The Dr. hands my Dad the picture of his colonoscopy and on the inside of his colon is a Delmonte sticker stuck to the side of his colon. They both laugh and the Dr. asks my Dad's permission to keep it so he can show his other doctors.

Tiny Elvis sez Lookit those rotors, they're HUGE!
Interesting. I went for my first physical in decades a couple of months ago. I'm over 40, so got the cornhole checkout, ekg and bloodwork, but no eye dilation. Did I get rogered?(nyuk nyuk) (I do have 20/20 vision.)
Are we driven by our dreams, or haunted by them?

Nah you must be mistaking me for WDGAH the dominatrix?
The only things I ever heard of ultrasounding was pregnant ladies. Aparently they can EKG my heart and figure out if I am the 90% that has an irregular EKG but will turn out ok.
My brother died at 52 from colon cancer. Dad died at 76 from multiple myloma. I have a bleak outlook and started years ago doing everything I can to stave off cancer.

An "ultrasound" of the heart is more formally known as an "echocardiogram". Not to be confused with "electrocardiogram" which is usually referred to as an "EKG" or "ECG". It is "EKG" because in German it is "electrokardiogram". An EKG shows the electrical activity of the heart and from it you can gain a lot of information. It is cheap, easy, and requires no technical skill to perform one. An echocardiogram actually watches the motion of the heart and can measure blood flow in, out, and through the heart. Much more information can be gained from one but it requires a a more skilled operator, usually a graduate of a "cardiac sonography" school, or an actual cardiologist. Generally (except in urgent cases) they are done by a sonographer and then interpreted later by a cardiologist.

They can also perform ultrasounds on your liver, kidneys, testicles, bladder, rectum, spleen, spinal cord and the various arteries/veins throughout your body.
There's more but you since you've recently denied having a uterus I'll spare you the details.

Do too.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or if it's the wrong application, but I remember them using an ultrasound during my knee surgery recovery.

I've never heard or seen it done in a hospital setting but now I have something to research and play with tomorrow night if its slow. What kind of surgery was it?

You shouldn't be driving like me.
That was probably ultrasound therapy, kinda like a deep tissue massage with sound, or something like that, as opposed to ultrasound imaging. I could be wrong.
My right knee is a bit messed up since the crash a few weeks ago. I'm not worry about it because it doesn't hurt. Actually I can't feel anything in the right hand side of my right patella.
On the plus side, my back had been hurting since I crashed at Grattan two years ago. Now is not hurting since I fell the other day.
Sorry for the tread-jack.

Arthroscopic surgery. It was ultrasound therapy but didn't know if it was all done with the same or similar equipment.
I do know she squirted some goop on my knee and the ultrasound wand looked just like the imager.

Yeah, common stuff seamus.
Stimulates blood flow among other things.
I preferred that to the electroshock muscle contractor widget.

Commuter Express!
Thanks guys for pushing this to the top so I don't forget it.
Had a knee x-ray too recently as my right knee grinds when I am squatting the barbel in the first 20 degrees of movement.
X-ray said knee is fine. I was not pleased. I think I am going to have to walk in to see the dr in my workout shorts and bring a 50lb plate.
My left knee makes a pop sound. Dr said "Dont worry" ....... great!
My 2d echo-cardiogram is scheduled for Friday.

For the most part xrays only show bone problems. I would go to a joint specialist and maybe even get an MRI.
Doctors are like helicopter pilots you know... some are as awesome as Seamus and some are not so awesome

I second JH's recommendation. When I injured my knee, the xray said all was cool but I could put weight on it because as soon as the quad muscle fired, it felt like someone shot me in the knee.
When I was finally able to get the MRI, the cartilege damage (and floating pieces) was evident.
And the worst part of my rehab was the King Kong machine that they strapped me into to forcibly bend my leg through its range of motion.

Don't get a knee replacement. That machine is semi-permanently connected for the first 2 weeks . . .

They did that to me for my ACL/Patella.
The first day of "real" stretching that sonofabitch rolled up a towl and said "bite this".

My ankles pop loudly every time I take a step, so I'd make a terrible ninja or assassin in general. I'm wondering if this will affect me later in life. =\
