BTW I've spent time in South Africa and believe me, there isn't a single square foot of Britain that gets close to the crime level of anywhere in South Africa.

Or another one of their classic headlines would be:

"Illegal immigration may cause you to lose your job and develop mental retardedness"

They're great at conjuring health scare stories, money worries, world worries, etc, etc, etc....

But the reference for number is the EU, proto Admittedly it probably only includes reported crimes which can skew the numbers. Also there is no indication as to the definition violent crimes (for example sheep painting might qualify raising the UK numbers)

I lived in London for 24 years, was born and bred there, and I never had any problems in that time... I moved to a sleepy seaside town, and in the 8 years I was there, I experienced far more violence. Mostly "after the pub fighting".

The kind of violence is mostly drunken fights, and the UK does lead the EU in public drunkenness for sure. Also there is, relatively, quite a lot of knife crime, concentrated in particular poor housing areas with high drug usage and increasing levels of knife carrying among young people "for self-defence". Illegal, of course, like guns. Availability of police for the average public order offence is zero and many of the worst housing estates are not policed at all.
