If you live in/near Toledo, Ohio or the I-80E corner of Indiana/Ohio and feel nice...
...I kinda need a favor.
While en route to Erie, Pa. we discovered my wedding band was MIA. Tracing back my steps it is either sitting on the IN/OH border or next to a bank in Toledo. I know this because it is the only time prior to the stop pre-Erie that I took my gloves off.
I'm fairly strange, but usually stuff like this has a way of working out, which means no one is taking my ring...it thankfully looks like part of a messed up bearing cage and will sit there until I can find someone who's in this area and wouldn't mind checking for me.
I have gps tracks from my physical location if you're interested in checking either spot, just drop me a PM. I'd post them here, but the power of the internet can be bad sometimes.
Yeah I know I can buy a new one and stuff, but it ain't the same.
Thanks to anyone that can assist...and I don't want anyone going out of their way for this. If you happen to be through either area, cool

PM's replied to and in regards to the aforementioned locations...here goes...
I'll post up the exact GPS coords later tonight when I get home and can extract the tracks from the GPS itself (lack of a damn cable here). In the interim, take the cheezy links and combine with cheezy drawings and maybe something good will come of it
I should point out, this is "just a titanium hunk of metal" that I'm attempting to come to grips with the loss of. It's not some million dollar thing that I am going to be poor if I replace, but I am even more glad that I didn't go that (expensive) route right about now
Thanks again to those who have inquired...hopefully this story has an interesting happy ending

I'm too damn stiff to unload all the GPS stuff ATM, but if there are still any questions I will make sure I answer them before such time.
I've mapped that trip to indy and I could do it in about 13:48 1-way, the only problem is I wouldn't need the ring anymore if I insisted upon such things . Even tried to get a couple scorpion bowls down the hatch tonight and sell my plan...no dice. I was however informed I need to get a camper and a trackbike before we go to Grattan again cause the GS's limit is about ~400 miles per day not in succession.

I lost my hunk of titanium in January. Mine also looked like a worn out bearing. That was the first thing my dad said when he saw it. It was mostly black titanium. I dropped it in a Dr's office I was working in and one of the kids snagged it.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG
I am in Toledo for the next 24 hours. Give me details...and I mean details of where you think it may be and I'll go do some looking tomorrow.
Cool...click the image on the left in my post above, there is a street addy. in the upper left of that. Some places it says "Oregon, OH" and others it says "Toledo, OH" for that exact same address but all the same, if you are heading E on Navarre in that area and see the big K mart on the right and a bank in the foreground...flip to the picture and you'll see exactly where I think it might be if still there...
Thanks either way for the thought, offer & assistance

Thanks for the reminder Will...a photo might be handy, eh?
I realize it's probably easy to figure this out, but mine is the one on the right.

SSG, may be a crazy question but did you call the bank to see if anyone turned in the ring?
Since Tim hit the Toledo point, we're going to hit the other one. It only adds 6 hours to our 12 hour trip but I don't mind and MrsSeamus has no say since she's not driving.
j/k, it's only 11 hours total and the detour is less than an hour. We're heading out in about 30 minutes.

So I just got a call from my buddy Seamus who informs me the ring is in his pocket AWESOMENESS!
Fairly speechless for once in my life, not only at the fact that 3 people I'd never met in person a week ago were willing to take time out of their day(s) to help me on this quest, because that was pretty damn cool and I thank all of you for your help.
I'm more blown away that we actually FOUND this thing!
I am way excited and that lump I've had in my throat since losing it is now gone. Seamus I apologize for sounding fairly dumb on the phone but, I had pretty much resigned myself that this wasn't going to end favorably for my ring. We had even discussed going to order another one tomorrow etc.
What a great day this is...I'm/we're amped, I've gotta go tell the wife...she ain't gonna believe this one

I am absolutely speechless as well. You guys are awesome!! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I had a gut feeling that one of you would find it and I am glad I was right! Truly a great day!
Frodo and MrsFrodo shall keep this ring safe until such time as it can be returned to its rightful owner.

Irony being what it is...
We had a goal of making at least PA or NY on our journey home the other day. We stopped in In. for a quick lunch at BK. It dragged out into a 1:15 hour lunch because this old timer was really interested in the luggage on the GS and just about everything else on it too and wanted to chew our ear off. Me being Mr niceguy I figured this must have been the highlight of his week so I sat and chatted with him until he ran out of questions. This put us a bit behind plan and we were now scrambling to make up for lost time so never put our raingear on and just hopped on the bike and left after. 20 minutes after this we realized our idiocy and (enter spot #1) we pulled over quick and tossed all our stuff on as the droplets started. It's evident we rushed through this too fast based on this storys ending
I won't even bore you with the reasoning for why we were in Toledo (spot #2) other than "rt 2 sure looks interesting on a map but make sure you zoom in enough". That bauble put us a keen (second) hour behind schedule.
Several hours later in E. Ohio we pulled into a service center on I-80/90E and as soon as I got off the bike I realized no ring! Freaking out I started to look for it, and I had finally accepted it wasn't there and had to be somewhere else we'd stopped.
As I stood there and my mind started panning the possibilities this random dude came up and asked if we had a cellphone he could use. He was running late for his kids swim meet due to traffic and had busted his phone somehow and was screwed.
My crisis was shelved and I moved onto the cellphone thing for a sec while handing him my blackberry. After his call I inquired what was wrong with his phone and even had a second thought that maybe I could fix it or something for him. No dice as it appeared the issue was his charging port was disconnected from the mainboard. The dude was uber appreciative though and add another 15 minutes to my now running behind thanks to my 2nd instance of being Mr. niceguy today.
I look at the wife and she is giving me that "please don't make me ride another 4 hours for this" face. While she held up well...she was not a comfortable person back there for the duration of time we'd experienced over the road.
It was a weird thing for me now. I'm normally the one trying to do nice stuff for others if it's in my capability much like many other folks on here. Now somehow I had to ask for help but I didn't feel right asking, my pay it forward mentality was blocking me here.
I said phucket, if I'm meant to have my ring back, I will. It will have to be via the kind actions of a friend I know or a friend I don't know yet, cross fingers hope for the best and focus on the road ahead now. I did my best to push it out of my mind while silently hoping not to be let down.
I wasn't, as the addicts come through unquestionably again and for that I have a big THANK YOU

Though with Seamus, you have to wonder if he just took a piece of titanium from off the ground - say, underneath an Aprilia - and fashioned it with his hands..
