    Damn Startup Programs!!

    How do I stop programs from starting up when Windows starts? I have removed everything from the startup folder and I have also tried to go into the settings for each program (Spybot S&D) and there are no settings for startup. Also an Adobe folder keeps opening (I recently updated Acrobat) and I cant get it to stop!! Help!!

    Assuming you are running Windows XP Start>Run> type "msconfig" in the run bar. Once it opens click on the "Startup" tab and you can check/uncheck as needed there. If you open an IE or Firefox window, you can search for the filename in google to see what each one does if it is not familiar. Dont uncheck them all as some of them need to run on startup.
