    Any road bikers out there?

Since it is nearly spring (oh, about 2.5 months away ) I am getting amped up for riding season--the non-motorized kind. I like to mountain bike and road bike, and I honestly can't wait to do both.

I've got a 2008 Trek Fuel EX8 as my mountain steed, and my road bike is a 2xxx Waterford 2200 with a full Dura-ace build. The road bike I got for free and have put minimal money into. It's super light and racy, and as much as I lust after newer bikes I know that to get the same performance out of a newer bike I'd probably have to spend near or north of $3000.

I'm thinking about doing a few things to it though. The first thing is upgrading the wheelset. I have some cheap Vuelta Starlite wheels. They look cool, but they aren't stiff enough and they are heavy! I'm looking into some Bontrager Race Lites. PezCycling News - What's Cool In Pro Cycling. The fiancee can get them at a nice hefty discount through her work

The other thing that I'm considering is painting the bike. The current paint scheme is in pretty decent shape overall, it's just not my taste. This is the exact color scheme (Minus the stars): http://waterfordbikes.com/images/upload/R33-55293.jpg

Anyone have any good suggestions for colors? I really like this combination of the flat black and red, FWIW:

I like the flat black-red, if Blaze Orange is not an option..

I have some Bontrager SSLs on my 7.5FX that are spoked (if that's a word) like the race lites. They're surprisingly strong.

Go with the flat-black and the red (or orange). I won't show knicks and scratches in the clear coat.

I'm amped to get riding too. Just picked a Specialized FSR with a few trick bits!

    Waterford. Very lovely indeed.

That would be a steel frame, right? If so take some inspiration from the Cinelli SuperCorsa range

Don't go flat black, just not right.

Wheels. Can't go wrong with Mavic Ksyriums (I've got ES on my Look) in my opion. Or Reynolds, but they're hellish pricey over here.

Road cyclist here... Don't ask me the specs though... hahaha I think it is a specialized I bought last year, and it's black. I manage to put close to 2300kms in one season on it though, so it can't be that bad... honestly, you'd think I would be thinner... hahaha

I'll be bringing it to grattan this year if there is room, I'd love to see what my lap times would be like.

Yep, it's a steel frame. I also like a gloss black with red lettering...I am open to suggestions though, as I really don't know what I want (or if I'll even do it before next year). Or maybe I'll find out how much a custom paint job around here will run and I'll reconsider.

The Bontragers I'm pretty set on since they offer the best performance and value for what I'm willing to spend. Plus with the discount they'll be about half price. Plus they look awesome! I am in love with a set of Eastons, but they are twice the price of the Bontys...

OF--thanks for the links. I do like this a lot!

I can't wait to get back on the road and trail. It's been too long on just the indoor trainer since it started getting cold.

I HATE that damn thing. NO fun at all riding it after a summer of scenery.
