Anyone else going to the SHOT SHOW in Orlando next week?**UPDATED**

Im getting a pass through my girlfriend's work... 5 days of touching and playing with all the latest and greatest in the gun industry.... This is like SEMA for the gun crowd, though it is restricted to those in the industry.

    I wish. You jerk.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG

I'm not, but several from my company are attending.

    +1 on the pictures.

Ok, so day one is over....

First off, Holly Crap is this awesome.... The Orange County Convention center is HUGE!!! We are in the west concourse and I would say that the show covers about 23 acres, or 1,000,000 sqft, and it is packed with guns, gear, lights, and accessories. Today I just did the whirlwind tour to get the lay of the land.

    New Items seen so far:

*Glock is releasing a new model, the RTF2, which is a G22 with a new (and I feel improved) frame.
New Product Announcements for GLOCK, Inc. at 2009 SHOT Show: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

*Kahr is releasing a downsized PM9 in 380 that should blow the Ruger LCP and the Keltec out of the water, though it will cost a bit more.
    Kahr Arms / .380 ACP Models / P380 Series

    * Maxpedition.com - MAXPEDITION HARD-USE GEARŪ (Primary innovator and premier manufacturer of outdoor, hunting and tactical nylon gear) is coming out with gear in orange and blue, getting away from their typical "Tactical Colors"

    * The Robar Glock that was posted on here is actually a CCF race frame and working over. They are not actually manufacturing any guns.

    Other cool stuff:

Talked to the TAZER Inc guys today telling them how Im trying to get my department to pick them up. The VP of sales told me that he would do whatever he could to help me and would start off by sending me a few XREP TASER XREP rounds and cartridges for my x26 for demo purposes...

Sportsouth distribution is giving out jumpdrives (1GB) that look like 308 rounds to their stocking dealers. My nametag says I am one.

Surefire has some really kick ass lights on the way. M3 LEDs and LED Weaponlights that are throwing 375-425 lumen or so.

I got to play with 5.11 tactical's Light for Life Light for Life Flashlight UC3.400 | Flashlights | 5.11 Tactical which is an LED light that instead of batteries, uses super capacitors, shines 2.5 hours @ 100 lumen, 1 hr @ 270 lumen, and chargese from dead to full in 90 seconds, yes 90 SECONDS!!! I will have one of these in my car. According to the rep, if you discharge and recharge it 5 times in a day, it will last for 65 years... Very Impressive, but I am a renown flashlight whore.

    Now in General:

For my rental car I upgraded to a Chevy Traverse, which is extremely nice. GM recently retooled the Saturn plant near home to make these, and from first impressions I am digging it. Lots of features including a backup camera that the monitor is hidden in the rear-view mirror, dual sun roofs, oem remote start that activates from way far away and automatically adjusts the interior temperature to counter what the outside temp is. When it is hot out, it cranks the air on, when it is cold out, it cranks the heat, defroster, mirrors on, and ignites the heated seats to be waiting for you. We did it so much that it may have moved to the front of the line for my GF's new vehicle next year.

Went to a party tonight that another forum Im on put up. It was held in a condo on the 30th floor of a downtown high rise. Pretty snazzy and what a view, but I dont want to know what that place costs...

Then we went and found a local cigar store/bar Cigars, Humidors, Online Cigar Store - Corona Cigar and replenished the stogies plus some that we have smoked thus far.

Well, thats it for day one... More news tomorrow.

    Day 2

Stayed just as busy on day two as we did yesterday, though today I snapped a couple of pictures from my cell phone. Two are attempting to show the size of the show, but what you see is 1/10 of what is there.

Today I went to Ultimate Survival Inc and picked up a Blastmatch and some Wetfire http://www.ultimatesurvival.comprodu...ct_line_ID=349 which are the coolest thing for starting a fire... You can light the wetfire on water using the blastmatch...

Went back by Taser and got some more goodies for my X26 to help me propose them to my Chiefs.

Saw the Tapco girl and spun the wheel of prizes... Got entered to win a rifle.

And so much more.... Then for dinner we went to Texas de Brazil and it is fantastic. Once seated you order drinks and then go to the salad bar and go back to your seat. Once back, each person is given a disc with a red side and a green side. There are "Gauchos" circulating the dining room with big kabobs of meat from ribs to chicken, to bacon wrapped filet mignon. As long as the green side of your disc is up, they come to you and ask if you want what they have, once you are full, or ready to rest your jaws, you flip it to red and they bypass you, then back to green for more meats... Absolutely a fantastic experience, and very "Atkins Friendly" .

I have at least another full day to peruse the show, then may go to disney on Sunday, but that is TBD...

    More updates tomorrow.
