FWIW, I like the Palm Treo 700wx I recently acquired. I like the touch screen, as I had a Palm PDA. The Blackberry has a scroll wheel that I didn't think I'd like as well.

I can get any data device, as long as it's through Rogers. The Ipaqs look cool but they're like 700 dollars. Too bulky anyway. On my work plan I get the 8800 for $99.

A coworker has one. It's a real nice form factor, even smaller than my Blackjack, but I'm not so sure about the keys, if you're going to use it for much typing, it's a 1/2 qwerty.

Yeah, it has two letters per key but the recognition software on the Blackberries is among the best I've seen. I had a 7100 at one time and rarely did I have to type more than a few letters before it filled the word in for me.

THis thing is pretty awesome. The keys are tiny but the ridges make it remarkably easy to type.

It's GSM, has a different OS/UI whatever, but it's also a different piece of hardware altogether. Since it's still all speculative I'll wait for it to come out before I discussi

The current Q is only for CDMA providers, and if you don't have one you're denied the privelege of such.

I swore against the Q as yet another PITA "toast phone" until a Good G100 / Cingular 8125 later I gave it a shot and it's awesome

Friend just got a Blackjack, and if I had GSM and a need for that technology that's what I'd get. Unless I knew the Q9 was coming out by the summertime.

Here is Mot's press release for it:

    MOTO Q q9
MOTO Q q9 offers pure performance through design, delivering more power, richer messaging and multimedia experiences and even better basics for the most demanding consumers and professionals. Operating on the next generation Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 platform and with Motorola’s Good Mobile Messaging technology, MOTO Q q9 provides easy and intuitive personal and corporate email, calendar access and content management wherever you are.

HSDPA connectivity makes listening to music, watching videos or sharing pictures lightning fast and Windows Mobile “PlaysForSure” enables compatibility with music and video stores worldwide. A convenient side-load removable micro-SD card compliments MOTO Q q9’s 256MG of onboard memory to ensure users have plenty of room to store what’s most important.

The second handset built on Motorola’s SCPL platform, MOTO Q q9 is optimized by design. It’s thin, lightweight, sophisticated frame includes an ergonomically-optimized keyboard and five-way navigation key to enable fast, accurate text entry. MOTO Q q9 also boasts one of the world’s smartest screen displays, automatically adjusting to produce the best visual experience, indoor or out.

With battery design that has been optimised for superior performance and USB 2.0 for full speed PC connectivity, Motorola is once again redefining what consumers should expect from a QWERTY device.

Here is everything related to the Q9...it looks pretty sick. One of our project managers has one (I didn't see it) but a few of our Q users in the office did, and said it was similar in size but seemed to have alot nicer (responsive) interface. Im pretty pleased with my current Q so that's saying alot if it's improved.

There are a lot of cool devices out there but there's something to be said about joining the crackberry cult. It's a real business-oriented purpose-built unit. BB messenger is awesome too. Oh and it has GPS.

I put it off as long as I could... in a lot of ways these things are a leash and I will be working a lot more from home now... but the earpiece shit the bed on my POS LG phone yesterday and it pushed me over the edge. Plus I got a really good deal.

edit: the "clitoris" trackball is really handy too.

I have tried a Q, and it definitely has the edge as far as the operating system goes. The 8800 is nearly as slim though, and everyone else at the office is on them... makes for very fast very simple communication.

Did you read a ps3 thread somewhere?

The pearls are ok i am just not a fan of their proprietaryness, but they do have some good features native that don't exist on other units without a premium charge.

Google is all about the crackberry so that is a very nice perk to have, gmail/etc is not a fan of Windows Mobile devices.

Can you install the Navizon software onto the crackberry?
