I wog....walk/jog. My knees can't take much of a pace for very long, but I've been wanting to increase the intensity. Maybe I'll look into some good shoes from a reputable source. I also bicycle to mix it up.

I didn't mention how I look when I run these days. It aint' pretty...

Figment, when I first started running my times were no better. It took me years to get to my best times. Just the fact that you are running is a huge plus.

...and to answer your question about knowing when to replace your shoes, it's a judgment call. Depending on a lot of factors, anywhere from 300-500 miles is usually the limit. The hard part is that the shoes usually still look good, but the absorption material(s) will have broken down. Any time I notice a twinge, I know it's time to replace them...again. I have a graveyard of old running shoes.

ok, so around 250 or so (if I do this long enough...) I can compare the cushion to new somehow...

Also, if you get serious, having a couple pairs and rotating them will help them last longer.

1 mile 10 minutes. Not bad. Stuff I forgot since the 6 minute days at 21:

    • Lung Biscuits
    • Second through forth winds
I seem to land flat and not on the cushy heal part of the shoe.
Running is fun, I just had a time getting the mindset to DO IT.
Time will tell...but the first time went really well.

I hate running. Choose a different excersise for cardio, begin a weight training regiment and eat right. If you do it right, you'll have far less chance of hurting yourself and you'll build muscle.
