Revolver?

So any comments?

Ruger GP100®*Double Action*Revolver (KGP-161) Overview

I am semi-looking for a revolver with a decent barrel. The small frame may be good for me also. Any advice gun experts?

The Ruger revolvers are great guns, built like tanks, You wont be dissapointed. Probaly not as much aftermarket support in terms of grips/sites/holsters/etc as the S&W's, but a nice piece none the less.

So what are you buying it for...home defense? carry? target? Ruger revolvers are nice, but the model you choose should depend on what your main reason(s) are for selecting it.

I've always wanted one of their low glare revolvers, the finish is cool looking. .454 Casull so I can shoot .45LC through it, and put the Casull rounds in it when I hand it to friends.

If you want cool and fun, get one of the newer Ruger Cowboy guns. I had a Vaquero in 45LC and they are built to last. The new Vaqueros have the Colt action too. If you want to have fun, check out Cowboy Action Shooting.

Looks like a nice piece, but I would look around for a range that would rent guns and try a few out before buying one. I have a Ruger super blackhawk in 44mag with the 8 in barrel. It is a very large gun for most people, but fits well for me. But I use it for deer hunting, not for target shooting.

Fired 10 rounds of .454 Casull once.

Key word being once cuz it won't happen again.

I'd go stainless. I've always wanted the 44 superblackhawk just to have. What would be your main purpose in chosing?

To shoot sheep critics

Just kidding largely the same. I thought about stainless vs blued just from a maintainence standpoint. Blued seems to hold up well.

You may want to check out used guns as well. With a wheel gun the age/use is less worrysome due to less moving parts. You can pick them up pretty cheap if you know what to look for at pawn shops and gun dealers that take tradeins.

That a .44?

If I ever get a gun that's what it'd be... a nice big heavy .357 revolver. Love the look and feel.

Picked it up at a pawn shop years ago down in Louisiana before the BS 7 day waiting period for $165 and that included a box of shells as well. And no I do not want to make my money back on it.

Shoots great, and for a .44 it does not have much recoil at all with the 7 3/4 " barrel. 75 yard shots are fun with this gun.
