Another pulled the trigger thread.

Well I FINALLY decided that I hsould get off my ass and pick up the car that I had been dreaming of for many years...

That's right, I bought the 68 chevelle that I had talked about here... car restoration question

I figured that you only live once and you may as well make the odds of shortening that as good as you can.

I think that it is as sound of an investment as a car can be, seeing as I have the original EVERYTHING(minus the radio) and that it seems that the numbers matching market is staying put. Not that I am planning on restoring and fliping the car, but if times get tough it's nice to know that I have something that is actually worth something.

I played a nice trick on mom and dad (aka mom and Decker) we were on our way to pick up some breakfast and I decided to take a SLIGHT detour to have a look around the shop(he's only a couple of roads over) pulled in and dad mentioned the fact that somene must have bought the chevelle. Little did he know.

Got to go for a small tour in it and I have to say any of you who were thinking of buying my license could probably get a deal on it now as I don't think that I will have it once that car is on the road... Laid a 60-80 ft patch with out any effort... and this is before we restore it...

I may make a thread ith the details of the restoration, but, I just thought that I would let you guys(and gals) know

Muscle cars are definitely endearing in their way.

You'll know how much you really like it when you start dealing with their issues.

I'm not so worried about the insuing "issues" I have honestly been a fan of the muscle car era since I was 8... longer than I have been involved with bikes.

Now that I can finally "afford" one(insurance has come to a point that I can afford, same with registration) I jumped. I am not too worried about stuff that comes up, but more interested in having a bit of "fun" with it and enjoying it whenever I can.

Just looking forward to the restoration

You're telling me.

actually the neigbours are pretty decent, I have a VFR wheelbase sized hapy face at the end of the driveway and they aren't too bad with it. the kids ride their bikes around it

Hoping that I can behave enough to get out of the neighbourhood. Mind you the "launch control"(aka line locks) are NOT going to help that.

Same here, I bought my first musclecar when I was 14.

But they do have their quirks...

I was hoping for nothing but sunshine with this one

I plan on there being a few things that come up, but really, I think that it will go away once I light it up a few times.

I am just hoping that nothing MAJOR comes up.

I already have a set of disc brakes off a 70 nova to go on for "driveability" other that that "maybe" a stereo(original is missing) and a nice exhaust.

I put the disc brakes from a junked Chevelle on my 68 Nova.

The drums were downright dangerous on a 400 Hp car.

That is what I figured... the front drums would hardly hold us back at the end of the drive...

They don't work in the rain, and mine worked only briefly after some shenanigans merging to get off the freeway...unfortunately the offramp was downhill, my two ton car wasn't going exactly slow when I exited...and the brakes only casually effected my speed before I blew through the red light at the end.

That weekend the swap was done...and one of my 9 freebies was crossed out.

nice! When I was in high school (1996ish), my friend had a 69 chevelle SS with a 396 big block and his brother had a 68 camaro. Their dad had a 68 malibu (chevelle) with a 400 small block and a power-glide transmission. Sweet sweet rides! Loved them and they were all mint...

You'd be surprised.

I'm sure that the first time she goes for a ride in it she'll likely be thrilled, but right now she's not so bad with it.

The car is in barrei right now so not much chance of seeing it here

Here's hoping september is a good one.

Ah - fond memories. My first car was a Chevelle, a 72 with 350 two-barrel, unfortunately, but still a Chevelle, and I loved it.

You're going to have a lot of fun

I could squeeze with it all day, but I don't think that I have the funding any more...

There are some pics in the original thread, I will see if I can load them up again, pretty rough looking right now though.

Should be a VERY fun car once on the road.
