Thinking about updating my daily driver...anyone have experience with these little guys?
I always liked the SVT version of them, especially in orange.

Nope, plain Jane. I don't know how much better the SVT is but I found mine to be very noisy on the freeway. It was also pretty brutal on my back on longer rides. That may be a non-issue with the SVT as it has a better suspension and maybe more sound deadening material.

The lady's Mom used to have a plain jane one and I'd agree, kinda buzzy, reminded me of same era (04) Civics. I'm going to guess the SVT is too.
We actually put a few thousand miles on her Mom's and I didn't think it was bad. It's definitely no luxury car though.
The SVT is pretty much all different; engine, transaxle, suspension, seats, interior options...all higher spec.
A friend put 150k on a std 3 door and loved it, but his wasn't an SVT either. I haven't known anyone with one.

Had a plain jane 2001 as a company car once. Thought it was the worst thing I'd ever driven except for the '95 Ford Aspire that my sister drove in high school.
The SVT's do look a lot better though and on paper at least sound interesting. I would think that an SRT-4 or Nissan SE-R would be in the same class and be better. I have two SE-R's and love both of them. '96 SE-R and '05 SE-R SpecV

Looked at Civic Si-s...on top of being like the #1 stolen car, I don't want to spend $12k for a car with 100k.

I started out with the exact same vehicle in my mind, but the car had the same effect on me as it did Sunny...I ended up just leaving the stealership without even a test drive. I felt the same way about the SI civic, and in the end...spent<10k on a 2 year old Civic with about 39k on it, and put an SI suspension on it, and was happy. Hate to admit it was a slushbox...but it was still pretty entertaining, all things considered.

The Seamii are awesome.
Also I should impart my "Have you checked out Mitubishi?" statement here. I'd never owned one till earlier this year, but so far I like it. Their resale isn't as proud as are the Honduh's, but I think some of their rides might not be too bad as far as quality...who knows, I could be wrong, this is off the hip

The 04 to '06 Lancer Ralliarts are a great driver's car. They have a more aggressive suspension, better brakes, better rubber (Eagle GS-As) better seats and the torquier 2.4L motor. Front struts go in 50000 miles or so, and it's tough to find one that hasn't been "riced" or bagged to shit... but if you've got time theyre definitely worth a look. And it's true that they don't hold their value as the Hondas and Toyotas, but as a used car buyer that's to your benefit.

I've got time, there's no hurry. Just did a quick CL scan and there are two locally, price is fairly close, but miles on both are about 100k.
Not a bad idea I suppose, but all I have to reference is Mom's Eclipse, which was a pile.

Eclipses are built in Normal, Illinois along with the Endeavor and Galant.... Build quality isn't on par with the Lancers, Outlanders and Monteros, which are built in Japan.
Only other caution is to make sure all the maintenance is up to date. At 60k miles it needs pretty major service. (t-belt, etc) But keep in mind they come with a 100000mile warranty.
The Corolla XRS (same powertrain as a Lotus Elise) is kinda fun, but normal people can't get a comfortable seating position. The pedals are too close and the steering wheel is too far... In order to have enough legroom you need to have the seat bolt-upright to reach the wheel.

Quite a few on Trader. If you decide to look at any, shoot me the VIN and I can run them through my dealerlink system... lots of useful info in there like warranty coverage, etc.

I'd do the SE-R as well my brother and I flogged our 92 to the tune of 170K with quite a few trackdays and autocrosses thrown in as well. Turbos are trouble IMO specially if you are'nt the original owner. Manufacturers should install a factory turbo timer in all the cars they offer with a turbo.
Are you looking for a 4 door or a coupe? The SVT came in both
For a coupe I'd look for a used Scion tC-lots of bang for the buck
Just out of curiosity, are you dumping the Stang or are you finally 'fixing it'?
Which one?
The SVO is fixed and running great. It's apart for a tranny rebuild right now, but that will be completed on Sat. (been waiting for a part) Smogged, legal, done a couple of roadtrips logging about 1500 miles in the last month and a half or so. Drives better than they did new with all the upgrades. Alas, it is the one I'll be selling.

ETC ETC
Keep the ideas coming...a Ralliart would be kinda cool. My MR idea was vetoed for the STi.

A 1985.5 SVO, see the pic. I love the car, and it's in mechanically great condition now. But honestly, it's a better toy than daily driver for me. I just like to tinker with the thing too much. I am planning some life changes that preclude having a car that needs more love than an occasional bath or oil change for a few years. All 22 year old cars need occasional wrenching. No matter how nice.

I'm looking for a low milage car, with reasonable fuel milage that is fun enough to drive that I won't hate it, and costs less than $10k. Stick is mandatory, 2, 3, 4 whatever door is OK. I found an 04 SVT 3 door Focus EAG with all options for the right price, but the owner got a bit flaky last night and this morning...so I don't think that deal is going to happen now unfortunately. It's just for me, when the lady and I go anywhere together, of course it's in the STi.
Hell, I've even talked about dumping the truck along with the SVO and MV and buying an older Turbo Porsche (01-02s are available in the 40s now)...but I feel like I should keep the truck for some reason.

I had to broaden the search but here are two options that I like. The Altima SE-R's are WAY more car than the Sentra SE-R SpecV and I love my SpecV. One of each.

Hmmm, I have longer than normal arms, and an average inseam for my height, so that might actually not be a bad thing.
I didn't know about this car, doesn't look like a bad option; I found one at a local dealer for 11 and change, maybe I'll go sit in it.

Well you're used to riding bikes so have fun in it-you'll need to wring its little neck but it is a fun car-I've had a few for demo's when I was Managing a Toyota Dealership
Is that the Mustang you're selling? I might need a Cali road trip...that's the shizzle
Yeah.
I need a bigger garage.

Didn't you need an SCCA license to buy one of these?
I don't think you did. Fuel sipper is a pretty minor concern I suppose...
If we weren't getting ready to buy a house, I would've bought that thing. As it was it was close, my favorite Mustang.
