I pretty good idea, IMO. Absorbing and storing energy kinetically may never make sense for passenger cars, but makes a lot of sense for vehicles that repeatedly slow down and speed up. Race vehicles, buses, mail delivery vehicles, for instance.
Modulating the power absorption and delivery will be the real technical challenge. I'm not convinced that the toroidal CVT approach will be the final answer here. Fascinating stuff. |
