Wow. I just saw an article in one of our trade mags about the new Burj Dubai. Already way taller than anything else in the world, and still growing (they haven't said what the final height will be). Check this thing out, and watch the video from Discovery. Unreal. Tall Building: The Burj Dubai.... in Dubai - HAWT action [hot ak-shuhn]

Look for more floors now that gas is almost $4/gallon...
Incognito: An Italian phrase meaning "Nice Gearchange!"
I think I read about that building in a really old book I have. I thought it was called the Tower of Babylon though?
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG
Maybe it's just me but I'd never feel safe going up into a building like that.
Nope, it's not just you.

ok, for real, does the spire really count? I mean, I know it does, but after the last 'floor', the spire seems to go on much further than it really 'needs' to.
I call shenanigans in this contest of 'mine is bigger than yours'...

The Sam Houston Statue on I45 outside Huntsville used to be the tallest Statue in Texas. The Dallas Zoo just HAD to beat that and the Giraffes tongue sticks up in the air 6 inches higher than Sam's hat.
And we all know how much Texans like it when other people have bigger stuff.

Didja hear about the Texan that died while visiting New York City?
He was so big they could not find a coffin big enough to send him home...
So they gave him an enema and shipped him back in a shoe box
Hehe. Now I have a zinger for next time I talk to Dad.

Twice as tall as the Empire state, which seemed high to me when I was there. Wow.

Over three quarters of a Kilometer? Yeah, that's pretty high. If you forget your cell in the car, you don't want to have to go get it once you get to the office.
I get the "We have the tallest building the world" pride thing, but don't they have a A LOT of sand dunes over there? It's not like they're pressed for real estate, or am I wrong?
Yeah, the article is a bit of a put down...

They were saying the same thing a while back about a shitty little town in the middle of nowhere called Las Vegas.
And skyscrapers in New York. Besides why did Americans have to build any skyscrapers? Plenty of room to build financial empires in the middle states, ask Warren Buffett.
They might fail, might not, we'll see.
I did like the comment about flushing a toilet 1000 feet up, and having to pump the water up for that. Wild.

LV isn't in the Middle East. no matter how much the rest of the world might hate the US, people will still go to our vacation destinations. I doubt you can say the same for anywhere in the Middle East. History shows its the most unstable war torn region the world has ever known. do you wanna go there for vacation?
