Hehe, I have to e-mail that to my Mom and Dad; I about drove them nuts pulling stuff apart. (and losing Dad's tools while I did it)

My dad used to take me to work on weekends and usually spent most of Monday repairing the stuff I took apart. After a while though, I got to where I could actually make stuff work .

So, the video is true, then?

Guilty as charged Can't tell you how many times I got yelled at for taking my dad's tools apart. Most of my RC cars wouldn't make it past a couple weeks old, either

Most of my motorized toys, mother's appliances and music box, and even our riding lawn mower eventually fell prey to "The Knack".

that thing was so funny. We did that while were kids. Though will have to say, not many things got put back together.

This hit home cause of all the engineers I work with, "Social inequities".

I used to love to tear things apart when I was kid. I'd scour the neighborhoods on trash day looking for lawnmowers being thrown out so I could haul them home and disassemble them. I used the motors to build go-karts and minibikes...man that was fun!

Absolutely nothing like seat of the pants engineering. And yes, it does get exciting during the test and evaluation phase. Now I have kids for that.

As with most things Dilbert and engineering, spot on.

My dad used to bring home broken stuff from work so I could take them appart...and sometimes actually get them to work again.

It kept me away from his truck.

Most of my toys were modified to some degree. I used to take apart my GI Joes and put them back together in different combinations, paint parts, etc.

That isn't engineering. That's Jeffrey Dahmer!

I think this is the true essence of Knackery.
Taking some things apart, then assembling something ala Frankenstein, that has little, or nothing, to do with the original purpose of any of the donor items.
I just found some pics of one of my early creations, I will post them soon.

My neighbor does that all day long with lawnmowers, edgers and other things. His test range is out front yds. Never know what I may see pass my front window as I sit here on the computer. Keeps his hands busy and that is probably a good thing. He offers to help with my motorcycles. UMMMMM, NO! Last thing I need is a Briggs and Stratton Carb on the WR.

You should hook him up with Hammer's neighbor.
