IPOD help

My home laptop frozed last week and I had to download all my stuff back into it.

I downlaod Itunes saturday and that seem to work but now, when I plug my IPOD back in my laptop, it charges but I can't retrieve my music so I can export them to my Itunes folder and when I purchase a song, it won't go into my IPOD... It's like they are not talking to each other.

I think it's more my IPOD then my laptop because if I remember correctly, I had issue before the laptop froze.

Any Idea what I could do.... except for buying a new one

Have you gone to the iPod Apple page and performed all the iPod reset procedures?

Mine was doing this then one day it froze and never worked again. Seems they just give up the ghost. Mine was an old mini 8gb I think. Still had the monochromatic screen.

Try the reset procedures. The Apple champions will be on soon and can help.

I will try that when I get home. I saw something where we you download your window XP, your computer may need some kind of reset so I think that will fix my problem

If not, I'll be back

Get sharepod and connect the ipod to another pc. Backup your music. Your hard drive on the ipod may be about to crash.

if you reset your iPod you'll lose all the songs on it.

does your Ipod even come up in iTunes? if it does try hitting the update software button and see if that helps.

Ditch the Ipod and get a regular MP3 player. No hype, the computer sees it as an external drive and load it up just like you would a removable data card. Not as many gadgets, and alot cheaper.

Ok... that was stupid but all I had to do was hit the MENU And MIDDLE button at the same time for about 8 seconds until the APPLE logo came up and there you go

Cool. So you had to rebuild the 'doz machine but just reboot the iPod

Hopefully this won't happen to you but....

Once I started this, the end was near for my old mini. Ended up reseting it more and more. Think it lasted about another month or two till one day I got the sad face on my iPod and it was never heard from again. RIP iPod.

Hope this isn't the case for you.

Yep

My ipod was freezing up my laptop. I stopped and listened carefully.... I could hear a faint whir whir click click coming from it. I contemplated giving it away (hint hint) and then shopped the replacement drive and went from there.
