Re: CRF450X Damper

Pull apart the front end, grease and tighten down your headbearings.

Should be good to go with that.

At high speed you may still get some headshake, but not too bad.

Not the only benefit, but dampers will help soften the hit when the front wheel deflects off of roots, ruts, rocks, etc. I just sold my 450R and bought a new, leftover '06 450X, and as I've started doing some harescramble racing, I'll be putting a Scotts damper on very soon.

Sweet!

So you're actually riding this one then?

Re: CRF450X Damper

Can't say the same for myself.

I'm trying to sell my dirty without success. It seems I might have to slash the price and take my lumps. Everyone wants the CR "you don't have to mix the gas for".

The guy I sold my 450R to is in the same boat. He has one of Kevin Windham's practice CR250's, and can't give it away.

Re: CRF450X Damper

While the 4-stroke MXers have their strong points, I still prefer the 2 strokes for their cheaper/easier maintenance, easy starting, and power delivery (which is good or bad depending on the situation). Oh yeah, and now that the 4s are all the rage in the racing classes and most manufacturers are phasing out the 2s in America, used 2 stroke bikes are cheap. But I am surprised at the trouble LTL is having selling that killer CR. Is it because of Cali regulations?
