I Guess this Makes me a Potato.

For a combination of reasons that I won't bore you with,(again) I sold my racebike and bought a dirt bike.

It's a 2008 CRF250X. I'm picking it up tomorrow. It's basically brand new... the guy bought it, rode it 3km in a field then lost his best friend in a moto accident and decided he never wanted to ride a motorcycle again. Sad for him, but I got a great deal.

    Ordered and enroute:

    Scorpion HD skidplate
    Scorpion rad guards
    Cycra pro Bend handguards
    Honda shop manual

We're having an unseasonably warm autumn here (after a record cold winter, spring and summer) so I'm hoping to get plenty of rides in before the snow flies.

Tough sell but congrats on the purchase. I'm sure it'll be fun in the snow too.

Grattan has a special place in my heart and I will return there someday with a trackbike of my own, just not any time soon.

You don't need a bike, there are plenty of them already there ready to be ridden.

Grattan has a dirt track dumb butt. Get your new bike over there and have fun! Yes, you can ride my 954 on the paved track if you have gear and balls.

Oh,...and congrats on the new bike!

nice. Keep an eye on the valves, those bikes like to eat them when run hard. Watch for them slowly sinking into the head, you will see the clearance closing up.

Yep, every 10 hours. THese little 250 thumpers are maintenance-intensive, but I enjoy wrenching on my motorcycles.

Hey on the scorpion stuff..have you seen it in use or heard alot of testament about it? Only asking as my personal fave is these guys: Flatland Racing: Radiator Guard for 04-09 Honda CRF 250R & 250X-

their stuff is made out of something magical...I have their skid plate and rad guards for my old bikes just in case I find myself on an 03/04 YZ again

You might need to pick one up regardless... they're lots of fun, and I've hooked up with a really good little riding group who know all the good trails and are patient with n00bs.

THe Flatland stuff is really nice. I went with Scorpion because it's made and distributed here in Canada, so it's nice to support a home-grown buziness and it's a lot more convenient to avoid complicated expensive shipping and border charges.

From what I've read the Scorpion stuff is top-shelf.

Cool, I sort of figured as much once I actually noticed the website ended in .ca . Thats cool then, I hope you have good luck with the stuff and never need to use it

I find it odder the week I get a 1krr is the week you get a dirtybike, figures right?

250x is an awesome machine though, if I never needed to cross streets and weighed less than I do, that would be the perfect machine. That or a WR250...awesome motors.

So when do you get it? or do you have it now? I might have a rear sprocket for it if you're contemplating upsizing.

I have it now, picked it up yesterday. It was more or less brand-new, as the guy claimed. Still has the rubber studs on the tire treads... The weather is deteriorating quickly here from our indian summer so I may not get a chance for a proper mountain ride any time soon, but hopefully I'll be able to take it out on Friday just to fool around.

And I may take you up on that sprocket.

The guy even threw in all of his brand new gear... about $700 worth. He wanted to give me his ramps too but I wouldn't let him, I felt bad enough for the poor sap as it was.

Cool, I will verify when I get home...believe I have one new in the box, I believe a 50t. You'll appreciate it for the same reasons you would on a 600
