Fork Saver

Anyone use one of these, or one like it, when transporting their dirtbike? I bought one, thinking it was a good idea, but I can never seem to get enough tension on it to keep it in place. I'm sure I could if I was using ratchet straps, but prefer to use regular cam-lock straps.

Why do you say that? It seems like a decent concept.

Re: Fork Saver

Its a solution in search of a problem...and if it pops out, your bikes now tied down way too loose.

And bikes tied in too loose in the back of pick ups like to fall through the rear window.

Re: Fork Saver

Always concerned with the DB falling over in the back. Shouldn't as long as there is decent tension on the forks. I use a three point tie down with ratchets and have yet to have a problem.

Re: Fork Saver

I ran one of those for years with no problems - I think it saves fork seals. The one I had had a velcro strap to keep it in place. I also had ratchet straps which would put enough force on the tire that it didn't matter anyway.
