So I've been watching a few MotoCross / SuperCross events on TV.. I have a question

Do these guys shift at all? In the air? Half the time they have their left legs sticking out. How does that work?

I think the 450s are basically using 1 or 2 gears for everything but the start.

Supercross is tight enough that they only have to use a gear or two. The outdoor motocross tracks require more shifting and a bunch more speed.
I doubt they ever shift in Arenacross.

Watch closely, shifting in the air is normal but these guys are so fast, you don't even catch the little things they are doing since they make it look so easy...

I'm too busy watching Bubba squirrel around so much and practically lose it pretty much all the time to see if he's shifting or not. He's on the ragged edge but I'm sure he's in complete control. I watch a kid at my local track that reminds me of Bubba. Even if he's casing jumps or sideways through the whoops, the kid justs opens it up and rides it out. Fearless.

Ain't that the truth - Supercross is good stuff at the moment. I almost fell of the front of the recliner watching the Orlando race, 20 minutes of ragged edge stuff.

Too bad Ricky's retiring, he clearly pushes Stewart harder than anyone else.

It was even better in person in Orlando.
