    Indy 2009: Hotel Information

For those of you needing hotel accomodations for the 2009 Indy MotoGP, I want to encourage you to act quickly and get your reservations made early...

    TENTATIVE EVENT SCHEDULE:

    08-28-2009 FRI - TRACK LAP - RIDER Q&A, PIT WALK - PRACTICE
    08-29-2009 SAT - QUALIFYING
    08-30-2009 SUN - RACE DAY
    08-31-2009 MON- TRACK LAP (only)

There will not be an MCADX "block" arrangement this year, so you will need to contact the hotel of your choice directly.

In 2008 several members stayed at I-65, Exit 103:

Courtyard by Marriot – Indianapolis South
4650 Southport Crossing Dr. Indianapolis, Indiana 46237
    Phone: 317-885-9799
    http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/indsp-courtyard-indianapolis-south

    Rates in 2008: $159 King - $169 Double Queen
*Minimum 3 night stay. Please note, this is customary in Indy during race weekends.

    OTHER NEARBY OPTIONS:
Here are several other hotels located directly nearby.
    (see below for maps)

    Best Western - Indianapolis South
4450 Southport Crossing Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46237-3697
    Phone: 317-888-5588

    Jameson Inn – Indianapolis South
(NOTE: This is on the opposite side of the road, not easy walking)
4402 East Creek View Road, IN 46237
    Phone: 317-784-7006
    http://www.jamesoninns.com/

This area (I-65 Exit 103) is only 20-25 minutes from the track, and is convenient to Downtown Indy. It is also not far from Hammer's BBQ, if it happens in '09...

This is merely a recommendation that balances cost and convenience, you may be able to find a more suitable location based upon your needs...as always, YMMV...

The moral of the story is to act quickly and get your arrangements made soon...

    See you in Indy...

For those who may wish to stay on the west side of town, there are a few hotels at I-74 exit 66 in Brownsburg. Hampton Inn, Comfort Suites (fairly new), Holiday Inn Express, Super 8. Straight shot to the track and about 10 miles out.

I went ahead and booked two nights at the Fairfield by Marriot - Indianapolis South. It's $109/night but it's the cheapest I could find at this date without having to drive 30+ miles. I figured the location is good for the '09 Hammer BBQ!

    I stayed at the
Best Western - Indianapolis South last year and it was a dump for the same price.

We stayed at the Courtyard last year. Great place, can't remember what we paid but we "know people". About a 20 min ride to the track. Someone else was in the same hotel with us but I can't remember who.

Going to use the same place again.

I would've booked with Courtyard, but they require a 3 day minimum at $159 a night.

That's the RedRider rate. I warned them of your penchant for backing out of big, important events for stupid fish staring trips.

anyone staying at the Marriott in downtown Indy for this? I'm thinking of making an appearance and I want to make sure I won't see anyone.

Even if no one from MCAdx is there, you'll have a front row for Motorcycles on Meridian nightly...

You assume so much, I said I DON'T want to see anyone!!!!

Myself and a friend will be doing the downtown Indy thing each night, I've been to Indy before but is there anything (restaurants, etc) that I absolutely shouldn't miss during a GP weekend there?

You should probably try to attend the race.

Since you do not want to see any of us, here are a few places I suggest.

edit: Even sweeter. This post alone should ruin most people's google ads in this thread.
