    New features! - Updated 1.9.09

The new forum software has brought us some great new features. Some you may have already seen, some you may not be aware of and some that aren't enabled yet.

-One of the major changes have been with user profiles:
    MotorcycleAddicts.org - View Profile: ND4SPD

-You now have the ability to have picture albums. Albums are limited to 10 pictures each and maximum image dimensions are shown when you upload them.

    MotorcycleAddicts.org - ND4SPD's Albums

-There is also an option to add people to your buddy list(it's always been there but the new version is a bit improved).

-You may also post visitor messages on member's profiles.

-There are additional changes to the
    UserCP.

-Under the Search menu in the navigation bar you will find three new options.
    1. Unanswered Threads
    2. View all threads started by you
    3. View all your posts

-MP3 attachments will automatically have a built in MP3 player pop up right next to the attachment so that members can play back the file without having to download it to their computer.

**Please DO NOT upload MP3s that you do not own the copyrights to. We are not responsible if you get sued by RIAA** And we don't want to get sued either. You don't really want to see your favorite motorcycle site shut down, do ya?

-We've tinkered with adding bookmarks to other sites before, it is now part of the software. You can find this option at the bottom of each thread.

-Right below the bookmarks buttons is a section called 'Tags'.

MotorcycleAddicts.org - FAQ: General Forum Usage
    What are tags?

Tags are a useful way to search for threads with similar subject matter and content. This compliments the normal search system, which searches only for certain words or phrases and/or posts by specific users.

To use tags, you add words or phrases to threads to help describe the content. For instance, if the subject matter is 'photography' then you can add the tag 'photography' to the tag list. But you could also add tags like 'digital image', and 'camera' (depending, of course, on the nature of the thread).

This will categorize this thread with all other threads that have matching tags, whether or not they have the word 'photography' in them.

    Who adds the tags?

Tags are initially added to threads by the user who started the thread. Other users may also be able to add and remove tags.

    How do I use tags?

Tags are displayed in a box near the bottom of a thread page. Clicking on a tag will allow you to view other threads that have the same tag - and which may be related. Clicking on the word 'Tags' in the top of the box will take you to an overview page with a 'tag cloud.'

This cloud allows you to see which tags are the most popular - the larger the word, the more times it has been used on threads within the board. There is also another tag cloud on the advanced search page that shows you the tags that have been searched for (or clicked on) the most.
-Thread prefixes can be seen popping up in various forums. They can be seen here in The Marketplace, The Stash and the racing forums. This has been time consuming work so it is not all complete yet. You will have the option of selecting a prefix when posting a new thread. If you don't see a prefix as an option for a topic that you're posting on, feel free to throw a suggestion in the Comment Box

-The calendar has always been there but hardly used much. We'd like to encourage everyone to feel free to post motorcycle related events to the calendar. It's a great way to set up rides, track days, motorcycle shows, etc. Members have the ability to RSVP to events so it's easy to see who is attending a particular event.

That is all for now - there may or may not be others. Keep your eyes peeled.

Unfortunately, the MP3 player is fubar. I suspect it only supports 44.1 KHz sample rate as the MP3 I posted (48 KHz) is playing back slow. Not a biggy, but you should publish the specs for submission so people don't get unexpected results.

    Engineers say "Not so fast."

    and Seamus is awesome

Thanks for the heads up abtech. I wasn't aware of that. I will check on it and post the specs.

    There isn't a category for 24 bit/192 KHz bWave file uploads, so I'm trying as hard as I can . . .

    Quit "hacking" the system!

Can people search just the albums or do you have to click on a specific username to see if they have uploaded pics?

Some more notable changes from last night's upgrade:

    Private Message Changes
    • Read receipts are automatically accepted when a PM is replied to.
    • A new Quick Reply can be used to reply to PM's.
    • A new user option is available to set the default value for 'Save Copy' which is also used with Quick Reply.
    • PM's can be ordered by Title, Date and Sender.
    • When ordered, PM's are grouped by:
      • Title - Alphabetical ranges (A-H, I-P, Q-Z, 0-9 and other) - Non ASCII chars are grouped based on transliteration where possible
      • Date - Today, Yesterday, individual day names, Last Week, 2 Weeks, Last Month, Older, etc.
      • Sender - Grouped by Sender
    • Private Messages can be filtered by Sender, Title, a given date period, and whether the message has been read or not.
    • Message selections are remembered over multiple pages for bulk actions (Move, delete, mark as read etc).

    Profile Privacy
    • With the appropriate permission, users can now configure which parts of their profile is visible, and to who. The configurable components are:
      • Profile Picture
      • Visitor Messages
      • Contact Info
      • Albums
      • About Me
      • Friends
      • Recent Visitors
      • Group Memberships
      • Custom Field Blocks where the admin has allowed it
    • The components can be configured to be visible to:
      • Everyone
      • Registered Members
      • Contacts
      • Friends
    • Generally information is only hidden/displayed within the user profile page with the exception of Albums which also affects the ability to view the albums.

I love being able to sort PM's by sender. Very cool. Thanks.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG
