Valvole Radiale
I don't even want to admit how long my MV has sat dormant. In the process of moving this past summer, my CR250 fell on it, and damaged the fairings....it's been hard for me to even look at since then.
But being back in NorCal and having to commute to work, I've vowed to get it going. Even bought a proper 'Stitch for street riding. This weekend I got the seat brackets broken in the Grattan trailering incident replaced finally, the street equip back on, and charged the battery. (I did leave Bake's custom welding job intact though...just for old time's sake. )I rode it out for an inspection yesterday...and still, no engine I've ever owned makes more beautiful noises from the rider's seat. It's supposed to rain all week, but I can't wait to start riding this great machine on some of our wondrous NorCal roads.

I was thinking about that.
I don't have a helmet cam but that'd be the right way to do it. It doesn't sound all that interesting to bystanders, the RC-51 is far more impressive from that perspective.

Running while static with stock exhaust, it kind of sounds like an angry sewing machine. But when I pin it while in motion and it starts singing baritone at around 6k and beyond, the combination of the sound and rush of power/speed is very infectious and addictive.

If you look at the MV "tank" it has a split down the middle. The front half is the airbox, and it has ram air. It makes a great intake noise combined with unique valvetrain noise. Closest thing I've heard are some of the Ferrari vids I've watched online. The stock pipes are relatively quiet, but they sound pretty good up high in the revs. One day I'll get a freer breathing set...problem is, I don't want to give up the 4 pipe organ arrangement, and the design is patented, so only licensed guys can make them. For just the slip ons, it is hideously pricey. There is no way I've yet dreamt up to justify them. ![]()

I de-restricted the airbox on the RST and it makes a very noticeable "woosh" when being frisky with the fun regulator. As for justifying slip-ons... it's Italian. There is no justification required ![]()

I'm not so sure about the Brutale though. We put the Arrow Thunder exhaust on hers, and it did seem to wake it up a bit. It definitely sounds better, but there's no way you can ride it without the db killer in the pipe, it's just too damn loud. We still have to tweak the mapping on her bike, but now that I have the PLX datalogger, we're just waiting on riding weather ![]() |

Was the mid-pipe cat removed, and were they replacing the EPROM (or using a PC?) Several people have gained horsepower on MVAgusta.net, especially with the full on Moto Corse ti system.

I don't think they did any testing with a full system, just slip-ons. I don't know about the cat. If I remember right, they did swap out eproms as well.
The Arrow exhaust for the Brutale connects right to the headpipes where the cat "box" was originally, so it's gone from her bike. |

Sweetness. I bet that one sounds good.
I see her and I need the same thing next, a CF hugger.
