Motorcycle addicts days at Calabogie 2008
I'd like to have a motorcycle addicts days at Calabogie for 2008. I have already made some calls and I need some input from you guys. First I'd like to know if there is any interest, then how many days would you be up for. Week-days, week-end?
All week-ends are pretty much already booked, except for May and September. Miller Park being in September, May would be the only month we could have the track on a week-end.
Please let me know if you have any interest!

Re: Motorcycle addicts days at Calabogie 2008
If any of you guys need to have a place to stay, my home is always welcomed. It might be a sleeping bag on floor type deal, and I've never met any of yous, but I'm a trusting guy
Unfortunately, it's about a 4:30 drive from my house to the track, but it's still a good home base if you need it. 2hrs from my house to Shannonville, and only about an hour from here to Mosport - so if you want to do the triple threat - you can.

Doubtful I could make it next year.

Re: Motorcycle addicts days at Calabogie 2008
It's about 9 hours drive for me- which is substantially less than Barber.
Won't it still be be snowing in May?
How much could we expect to pay for lodging / camping
/ gasoline / and the track days?

I would love to but doubt I could make it happen for '08, or even '09 for that matter. Got a wedding and a racing season to pay for.

Snow in may! Weather is about the same as Michigan.
Lodging: You can camp on site for free, no shower though. There is also big houses for rent in the summer time. A group of 10 can rent one for a real good price.
Track day price: Here's what I have in mind. I'm guessing 170$ for week-days and 200$ per day for a week-end. This is for 50 riders. If I have more riders the price for the .org members would be lowered. I can find local riders to fill the track pretty easely.... So let say I'm up to 65 rider, 35 local would pay 170$ and the 30 .org members would be down to 100$.
I think we can make this happen. That track is well worth a 9 hour drive, and much more.....
If there enough interest, I can have tire service as well as bike rental.

That track looks amazing, but I'm afraid it's a bit beyond my geographical (and budget) reach.

It's not my fault
Re: Motorcycle addicts days at Calabogie 2008
I would be interested, The best case fore me is to have it closer to Grattan, then I could drive down, fly back fly there and drive back.

Love you too HG2!

I will give him cover. Doing two long trips in a year is tough. You need vacation time and lots of gas money. The actual track cost is only a portion. It costs me more to get to Grattan than the track fee, bike gas and food combined when I camp (thanks for the effort Abtech and keeping camping an option). It takes 4 days of vacation as a minimum. Miller would have been a minimum 6 days vacation under normal circumstances and that is an aggresive schedule. Not complaining as it was worth it to go to both events but unlike some we have multi-day drives

Did you say "bike rental?" How close is the nearest airport?
And, by the way, it often snows in Michigan in May, and you're up at the same latitude as the Upper Peninsula.

Re: Motorcycle addicts days at Calabogie 2008
I would be down for any of that... it's not far for me.
I live about an hour and a half from the track, any/everyone are welcome to stay there, must like dogs though.
Renfrew is about 20 minutes away and have a couple of VERY good restaurants, holiday inn is there too.
I hope that this happens, I'd love to see every one on my home turf.
And whip think of how cheap it'd be with our "funny money"
See you at GRATTAN

I'd be very interested, but am also concerned about the May weather!
Weekend or weekdays, 2 days minimum, works for me.

Like Grattan, or anything else that far out, I can't commit until closer to the actual date but I'd be up for it if Uncle Sam is forgiving.

Just want to gage interest right now to see if I should spend more time on this. Maybe the way to go is to book several place with an existing organization running an event there next summer, like Bwhip is doing at Miller.
Keep the info coming and we'll see.
that would probably be the way to go. lets say only 15 people commit, thats probably not enough but with another organization running it more people will fill it up. I'm not sure how Bwhip does it but you could talk to one of the orgs that runs up there and what can be worked out. say maybe half the spots open to mcadx people and if those spots don't get filled they can be opened up to the general public sometime in advanve of the event date.

I'd like to encourage anyone who's thinking of doing mcadx days @ calabogie '08 to cancel and instead go to mcadx days @ race city '08 which will be way more awesomer.
