DVD suggested donation Cost?

OK so when the charity is decided 100% of the cost will go to the charity. I am hoping to set it up as a blind charity so that I do not know who really did donate (honor system) Also if someone chooses to send excess to the charity ALL of it will go to the charity.

Currently my 3 ideas are:
1) RoadracingWorld action fund (I was hoping to find a charity that aids injured track day riders but track safety was the closest I could find)
2) St Jude's Childrens Hospital in Memphis
3) A fund that aids the families of US troops (suggestions Seamus, NDD )

I just had one other thought that may be a GREAT one but have to look into it first.

We have time as the DVD will be done hopefully around Christmas.

Fisher House

Provides assistance to families of wounded/hospitalized Soldiers so they can remain within a reasonable distance of military hospitals or medical facilities while recovering.

This is a pretty good group. When you send out the DVD, include a brochure and a pre-addressed envelope to Fisher House and/or a racer medical assistance fund and leave the rest up to the recipient.

Actually I was considering pooling it then sending it as a site donation. Get credit for the great people here (and you) and help a worthy cause.

Re: DVD suggested donation Cost?

You'd likely have a better response and accomplish the same thing by providing an envelope with the site logo on it, and letting each person do their charitable thing without any oversight. (ovinesight?)

Also, they could get the IRS deduction....

Had not thought of the deduction though for $5-20 As far as ovinesight I was planning on setting up something blind that I would not know (maybe some sort of Paypal thing). Though the envelope thing is a idea...

Re: DVD suggested donation Cost?

Maybe someone would take that opportunity to make a large donation. You never know how someone will react if they're actually on a videotape.

Last year everyone was on it Some only in stills. That is except the non-attendees that got one (down under members, etc)

Not to take away from anybody else's suggestions, but have you heard of the Red Flag Fund?

Yep the only thing is that I was really searching for something that aids track day folks. Certainly the Red Flag Fund and the Wegman Fund are great funds that should be supported though. Failing that something for safety on tracks (benefits racers and track day people). The other two are simple if you object to St Jude's Hospital stay away from me or keep it to yourself Politics aside the exact same for the Fischer Fund as everyone there either volunteered to defend us or has injured family that did, we owe them respect

Re: DVD suggested donation Cost?

Merely a suggestion, but maybe we can defer some of the money that is raised to RAH's family to help cover some of his medical bills. I'm sure they will be enormous.

Yes this has already been discussed with CBRVFR. DVD building and billing is still a way off but if Richard is home but not yet recovered it would certainly be #1 and only choice of use for the funds. There is a lot of time between now and Thanksgiving to finalize things and TG will be a better time to decide but this is an excellant idea.

This item is certainly #1 as it meets all goals, though I would have preferred to be riding with Richard and taking his money than having him be the injured person.

EDIT: On mention CBRVFR pointed out that we should spend the energy pulling for Richard rather than planning that far away (a good idea) and he is/was still pretty torn himself so the topic was to hard to continue. So for now take this is a given and everyone pray that we can take Richard's money also on delivery of the DVD

I don't think you'll find a single person that disagrees with that statement.
