Deal's Gap 2007

I'm not sure if this should go under MAo days or not, feel free to move. I'm just curious if anyone else has any interest in meeting up at the Gap during the first week in May? I've been there the same timeframe every year since 1999. The dates for this year's trip are Apr 28th - May 6th. This has been a regular event for the #motorcycles channel on efnet IRC.

I don't think my bike will be street legal next year but if I'm going to be around there at that time I can make it happen.

I "have" to be at school that week. In Atlanta. With Professor Kevin Schwantz.

I know a couple of guys in Indiana that want to combine a spring trip to the gap with a trackday at Barber, though.

Yeah, I'm already planning to be there, since I've told him several years that I would go, and haven't made it yet.

I'd like to get down there again (last time was '02), but Baby Girl will be here in early March, so I'm out.

I carry the Dragon with me though :

Sounds like a plan to me. I should have a brand new bike in a few weeks to try out on the Gap. A night run would be perfect.

If you've never done it - try it. It's an experience you will never forget.

Re: Deal's Gap 2007

We've been roughing it in this tiny little cabin up in Townsend for the last several years. I originally checked out this place just because it had a decent sized garage, but the view ain't bad either.

There's a LOT of places to stay in the area. Robbinsville, Maggie Valley, Waynesville NC; Townsend, Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg TN. Lots of lodging info on Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC

I'll be staying at the foot of the Cherohala that week @ the Point (maybe the Treetops, plans are still in motion).

Do you have a phobia of going places by yourself?

I rode down there from Cleveland back in 05. One of the best vacations I've ever taken

You could stay at the Two Wheel Inn which is just down the road from the Gap. Great little motel with a garage for your bike.

I sure do. The gap is a 8 hour ride for me, so that would most likely be my best bet.
