MCADX Miller Labor Day Weekend!

Apex Trackdays has posted up their schedule for 2008, and it's not what we'd hoped for, at least with regard to an MCADX event at either WSBK weekend or Labor Day.

They were only able to get one day after the AMA/WSBK race weekend instead of two. For any of us that live regionally, it still would probably be fun to go to the races for a few days, and then ride the perimeter track on the Monday following. I'm not sure it's worth it, though, for those that live far away, to schlep their bikes all that way for one day of riding. I still encourage anyone to come to the races and to ride on Monday for sure!

The only Apex day on Labor Day weekend is Monday, Sept 1, on the full track. However, there is another prominent trackday provider (Keigwins) that is offering the full track on both Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. MANY people from the Rogue RC-51 site are already signed up for these two days, and they'll probably be the primary attendees that weekend.

So, if you want an unforgettable Labor Day weekend next year, you could actually have three days in a row on the absolutely awesome FULL TRACK configuration. You'd just have to sign up with two different trackday providers. Here are the links to their sites:
Schedule | APEX Trackdays
Keigwins@theTrack

If I get good feedback that we want to try to organize a group effort from this site for either of those weekends, I'll be happy to try to help put it together. We've sure had a blast the last couple of years. However, just 15 total votes in the poll I did earlier to pick a weekend for the event probably didn't give the trackday provider a warm and fuzzy feeling that the MCADX group would be large and committed enough to reserve the track at the high cost it involves.

Whip, I'm making plans now to attend this. Where do you guys usually stay when attending?

I usually stay in either the Hampton Inn or Hilton, both near the SLC airport, about 1/2 hour from the track. There are hotels in Tooele, but they are way overpriced for what they are. There are cheaper alternatives in the airport area than the Hilton or Hampton, but I've found these to be a better value when you can get a good internet special.

Cool. I think I recently stayed in that Hilton near the airport in SLC (on our trip to Sturgis this past summer). Yeah, that was pretty nice. Anyway, let me know where you end up, and I'll likely book the same location. My plan right now is to make all three track days, Sat/Sun/Mon. I just blocked out my schedule at work to make sure I'm free.

My trailer is an exposed Kendon, but I guess I can just lock the bike and trailer up with my "On Guard" locks during the "overnights".

Also, is there "garage" areas that can be rented? If so, I won't have to lug my EZ-ups.

Yeah, the garages at Miller are first class, and I've never had a problem leaving stuff in them overnight. Last year they ran $75.00 per day, and are good for up to four bikes. They have full electrical power, nice shade, and are very comfortable. Definitely worth it, IMHO.

They are nothing like Grattan. I've never seen an R6 suspended from the rafters at Miller.

Btw, I plan on posting the track day info on my local (Vegas) forum to see if I can drum up some interest from my Vegas track-buddies.

3 days on full track... I hate you

Do so at your own risk but I think you could even leave the trailer out. They seemed to have access control and security that looked decent. The garages rock but need wireless and bigger TVs for speed channel (hey I HAD to complain on something).

If I hit the lotto my plans will change as it would be great to see y'all and the Rogue deviants from out west

Disclaimer: odds slighter higher than me marrying money.

From the pictures I seen the rafters are much higher, but not out of reach. I have plenty of ropes and block and tackles to complete the task.

Okay, I haven't even posted this on my local site yet, and I already have a friend committed; nice so there are two of us from Vegas going at LEAST (September).

Nice!

Btw, Whip, how do we arrange for getting a paddock? Do we buy directly through the trackday vendors, or do we need to go through MMP itself?

Let me know, because I want to make sure I land an inside paddock.

I rented a garage at $75 per day last year. They allow up to four bikes per garage.

I intend to rent one for this year, you would be welcome to share it with us

You get the garages from Miller. I think they may have a new person handling that this year. I'll check it out and let you know.

Thanks! FYI, it's me and a buddy right now. We may have a third. So, it's very likely we'll have to rent our own (since there is a 4 bike limit).

Please do. I want to take care of it as soon as I can, and not have to worry about it later.

Of course, we could somehow all coordinate garages next to each other, that would be cool, too!

Wow, this one was close! Thanks to good ole Whip for getting me going on this. I had no idea they book up so fast!

Anyway, I paid in full and got wait listed for the "A" group at Keigwins (5th spot I think) for Sat and Sun. The guy told me that with certainty I would make the cut because a fair amount of folks drop out at the "two week" marker. And even though I haven't been to Miller before the guy at Keigwins said if I run in the fast group on my local track I should do so up here too (and I just made the switch from intermediate group to the advanced group here recently in vegas). I also booked and confirmed with Apex spot for Monday; also in the A group. So, all you uber fast dudes, meet your Miller blue&yeller flag rolling road block! Moi!

And I got my room situation squared away in Salt Lake City by reserving a spot at the Hampton Inn! I'm ready and raring to go!!! Looking forward to riding with you folks!!!
