    Abtech's RC51 - Let's bring number 29 back home.

In this case, #29 doesn't belong between 28 and 30 - it really belongs between 10A and 10B at Grattan Raceway, lined up between the bumps onto the fast line of the straightaway, throttle open to swallow half the air and all the birds in the Township, expelling the sweet aroma of used U4 with a subtle exhaust note that has every farmer within five miles scanning the skies in alarm, looking for funnel clouds.

Prior to 2007, those farmers would look up, and finding neither a line squall nor the Creator of the Universe calling their name, they would shrug and conclude the Absolute Technologies RC51 was back in town, drawing dark, precise lines on the pavement of the raceway.

Some of us would like to see, smell, hear and feel that bike back again in its home environment. Oh, yeah - and maybe take it out for a few laps.

Abtech's RC has been kept in the family; luvtolean had it for a few years, and 1speed1 has it now - but according to this thread, he's williing to let it go to a motorcycleaddicts member for a very, very reasonable price -

So why not buy it as a group? If we do, Frank has agreed to keep it on display during the year, and to accept the title for the bike as long as we manage to transport it to Grattan every year, where for a small fee per session ( to keep it in Bridgestones, Motul and VP fuel, ) members can take the 'family jewel' out for a ride.

Many of us have experienced the benefit of abtech's generosity and his decades-long relationship with the owners of Grattan Raceway - we're just about the only group that gets to play there without having to deal with a large, impersonal trackday organization. What do you say to getting his legacy bike back where it belongs?

There are probably 80 people who have enjoyed this annual three-day blast who still check these threads. $50 bucks apiece would secure the bike for future use at MCADX track events.

Then maybe we could have an Olympic-torch hand off - style trip to get it back in time for the Grattan event this year.

    What do you think?

Please post in this thread if you're willing to participate, but don't put the amount here. PM me with the sum you'd be willing to contribute, and if it seems as if we will have enough interest to pull the trigger, I'll update this with instructions.

    Don't send anything unless it's a 'go!'

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to do this.

Being the last bike Abtech built for himself makes this one extra special & that's why I jumped at the chance to keep her in the family. Just throwing a leg over her & cruising in the pits is a cool experience, wait until you get out on the track........ she pulls so freaking hard it feels like your face is being ripped off!!

I hope this works out so many more members can enjoy her as well.

Thanks a bunch for putting this together!!! I'm all fired up & hope to get a session in at Grattan myself soon!

Yep the entire Blue Sheep herd is in
Most of the people who live around Lake Champlain claim to have seen Champ over the years. These many reports do not prove Champ is a living lake monster. They do confirm that most people are liars.

I'm in. My daughter and I have decided the best "off season" residence would be in the entrance to the studio (actually resting where it spent much of it's life with me). My clients will freak and Jacki will be laughing her angelic ass off, but I really want to say thanks to all the people who have commented and pledged for this.

Dave, let me know how much I need to send to help make this happen.

You know what I was thinking too.. those leathers that you've been trying to give away would look good in a wooden case with a glass front on the wall next to the bike.

If I am even going to do a parade lap or two (and Dave has graciously bent my arm into taking the RC around for a few laps), I will need those leathers as nobody has anything that even comes close to fitting me off the rack. I'm digging around for boots and gloves now . . .

I have at least 7 or 8 sets of leathers floating around here somewhere. I sold a few and gave away one or two, but I think I still have my Bates from 1968 in the attic somewhere . . .
